I don't particularly care about what other people like or not. I care about what they think. If they're hating it for invalid reasons, I'm going to void their argument against it accordingly. Also, people will view the site out of curiosity. And Nuroticat: how would one go about notifying other people of the site's intent?
or... you could say "provide the opportunity for ytmnd users to view quality content they wouldn't otherwise be afforded the opportunity to" or you could say "shove sh*t in people's faces that they don't want to see or hear" or, in my case "shove sh*t in my face that I've seen and liked." The first is the intention before someone has seen it, and you can take it wherever you want with your own twisted post-experience view of the world.
Well I suppose I'm no match for the intellectual prowess of someone who could come up with the user-names jewass and miltonstapler, so I guess there's really no point addressing their quandary. As for EvaX: Well, being that all of the users who have work up on there have sponsored, then yes; one would assume that this is indeed a showcase- a measly one slot of the recently sponsored- (Even though it's sort of a sore sight compared to all of the other good and original content that's on the front page.)
The votes mean nothing, and will mean even less once max finishes the new site creator. Anything that you change on a site, 72 hours after its creation will make the site's votes and views reset. Yes, it's all about the pageviews. Not about showing our work, it's about pageviews. We're statwhoring. Thanks for the respect. It's so much about statwhoring that we use an account that has no specific ties to any of us and, rather than spamming 1000 sites, we simply have one that rotates every day or so. We're terrible people and we're just in it for ourselves.
I like this idea of 'renting' a space on the front page, and it's good that the sites are all themed - wouldnt work as well if it was just completely random sites all on the one domain. Downvoters of this are stupid, its rating doesnt mean anything since its a different site every day.. Good work guys :-)
You can't say it's 'stolen' if he always posts the name of the site he's taking from. If he gives credit, it's not stealing, since he's clearly not trying to pass someone else's work off as his own. Duuuuuh. Still, I don't know what the f*ck is going on with this site. He really needs to just state whatever the f*ck his motives are here. Is he merely howcasing sites he likes? Here is what sucks about sites that constantly: How are you supposed to rate a site if the content is constantly changing? One day it's awesome and well made, and you want to 5 it. The next day it's uninteresting and stupid, and you want to 1 it. Instead of this individual/group of people constantly updating one site, they should make multiple ones, because the way they're currently doing things, how the hell are we supposed to rate the site?
HiveMinded has never made a public statement explaining who and what the purpose of the account is, so it's perfectly excusable for people to be 'ignorant' of what the hell he/they/it is. How can you call it 'ignorance' when an explanation was never publicly given? It's not ignorance if there is not a way for anyone to find out, unless they're lucky enough to recieve a PM from one of the members who collectively make up the account, personally explaining things.
Here's what pisses me off about the site rotation. I just spent 5 minutes staring at the middle of this picture thinking that there was some hidden message somewhere based on the first comments I read. After getting near the bottom of the comments list, I realized what was going on. 1'd for wasting my time, but I still salute you for raising the money for YTMND.
