A look into the future of our world and solar system. Compiled from various sources. Images of the growing sun and views from Earth are composites made by me from various images on the web.

Only 3 because of the scientific inaccuracies, the cotenents are not going to merge like that, infact they are moving in the opposite directions then what you show, the americas will merge into indochina, not back into pangeia, also when two galaxies colide they don't actually colide galaxies are mostly empty space and they'll most likely pass through eachother with a collision percentage of at most 2%. but other then that outstanding job.
"It goes against my religion, but it scares me even more. I've been doubting
my christianity lately, and this doesn't help..OH, WHY'D I CLICK THIS!?"
Why does it scare you? Christian or not, you'll be long dead when this happens. But very interesting. I think humanity will either have wiped itself out or be spread out accross the galaxy by the time this happens.
btw, i think its funny that despite we know for certain about tectonic plates and shifting of continents, movement of stars, etc - whetstone calls it "scare tactic speculation" - yes, thats right people - somehow events that may possibly (be honest, even though its science, its 'weatherman' science) take place millions of years after you die are a 'scare tactic' - huh?
i like the message at the end. astronomy is one of my majors, and i love this stuff, but its wierd sometimes coming back to reality, and realizing all the petty squables we have as human beings. so yea, while some of us have seen all of this stuff in our studies, this is one sciency ytmnd that has a point imo. props
Yep. This is pretty much what science beleives will happen to our star, based on observations of the life cycles of the other billion stars in sky. Our star has to run out of hydrogen eventualy. When hydrogen fusion stops, the lack of an outward force will allow gravity to win the tug of war and compress the sun. This compression will heat up the star to the point of being able to fuse helium. It will lack the mass (gravity) to fuse anything more, and then it will just, run out of fuel.
QUOTE: " isnt it kinda a sad feeling that someday (assuming we dont annihilate
everything) that life will cease to exist? sad..." I WONDER IF HUMANS IN THE FUTURE WILL EVEN LOOK LIKE HUMANS FROM NOW OR IF WE WILL EVOLVE INTO SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I DOUBT THE DINOSAURS COULD HAVE FORESEEN THEIR SPECIES GO EXTINCT ONLY TO HAVE THEIR GENETIC OFFSPRING BE KEPT IN CAGES AS PETS FOR SUPERINTELLIGENT RODENTS.
