Ok while I am the most amused i've been all week, lets not sit there and bash the maker of this YTMND... don't be a flamer just b/c you got manipulated by his big text/scary music site. And if you weren't, well this was certainly entertaining, was it not? I 5'd it for that reason, in it's own way, it was entertaining.
does anyone remember that episode in the twilight zone where a this small town got new neighbours, which they never see and stuff, the local neighbourhood goes paranoid android and they try to burn the house down and blablabla when it was just an experiment to see how much would a i seem to be repeating myself. the internets got royally pwned.
With the information we were given (very little) and the ominous overtone, I can reasonably say that we were within reason to assume more sinister dealings were afoot. Many being concerned with their safety took matters into their own hands. I cannot, however, say that I had not fallen into this ploy.
In a time where a country is in such a state, you can only suspect that such a reaction would have occurred.
In my oppinion, it was a rather annoying prank.

This site gets a good score for getting some many thousand people get all tense and upset. The second "chaos cloud". Then the makers of the original site get a good score for pwning the internet singlehandedly how people can get so upset over things they don't understand. Also for a brilliant social experiment. But who cares, really.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts... attitudes... prejudices. To be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicion can destroy, and the thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own for the children, and the children yet unborn. So what is was all about? A guy called Mike wanted to know how much the world can be psycho, and made a well-planned trap: a mysterious site without any advertising, with random codes and overused references to other overused apocalypse jokes. And we felt on it. XD Anyway the site had a purpose: NEDM propaganda! XD
lol, i never gave a sh*t about this because the first eon8 site i clicked on wasn't funny, so i ignored all the rest. but i guess this was a big deal to you guys??? i went to the site and i like how the guy who made it said "Now go out and play in the sunshine :)" i think everyone should take his advice!
probably setting up internet 2 and closing down this one. It'll be the end of free speech as we know it. It will cost a lot of money to do any mundane free thing you'd use the internet for. Emails will be able to be read and content will be able to be pulled from anywhere on internet 2 by it's... benefactors.
I'll say it again, nobody likes downvoters. Anyway, I love how everyone is saying I'm the owned one here. I didn't make any claims to exactly what it was. I just brought to light a few of the innumerable possibilities as to what it could have been. I personally enjoyed this entire experience and made several new friends. It has been great. Real quick, before I forget, if this was supposed to be some kinda "TOP SECRET!!!1" website, don't you think they could've done a better job? Wouldn't it just ask for a login/password on the front page, and then say "bad login/password" or something if you failed, as opposed to "YOU HAVE BEEN LOGGED, CHECK THE EON8 HANDBOOK SECTION BLAH BLAH BLAH?" Why would the ominous countdown be on the front page? Uggh. I could go on and on.
It was about 12:04 when I was finally get to the truth page, due to the server lag. Tried to open the site in about 15 different browser windows in an attempt to get in on one of them. I finally got in, then was reading the page off to everyone on the Vent server. Wehn I reached the FAQ part, my computer crashed from overheating, lmao. I said screw it and didn't bother getting back on. I was more afraid of angry nerds who had my IP address and what they could do to me than the site. Most fun ever ^.^
