The loop is too short. The link between the church and some of the deaths seems rather tenuous at times. That being said, this a nice "f*ck you" to scientology and their legal team. I also like how you cited your sources. For hard work, ytmnd cultural significance, and other reasons that probably exist, five.
"
TastyLobster, I'm pretty sure Google has been paid off by the
Scientolof*cks to not display anti-Scientology sites."
Did you try searching for "scientology"? Look at the second result xenu.net. If people try to "google bomb" anything, it should be that, because it's easier. Or maybe that article on cmu.edu, which is also on the front page.
Good way to communicate the info to the masses. I independently looked most of this up on whyaretheydead.net quite a while ago. IIRC there was some sort of petition to get an official investigation into the actions of Scientology, but it was one of those sh*tty online ones that nobody cares about. Dunno if it's still active.
You forgot to mention another death Scientologists have casued. Chef. After the South Park episode that mocked Scientology (http://suemestan.ytmnd.com/) the voice actor for Chef stopped providing Chef's voice on South Park. So Trey and Matt were forced to have Chef killed in a later episode, where Chef fell onto a spike and had his face ripped off by a lion. Damn you, Scientology! R.I.P Chef!
"Real religions kill millions while Scientology has killed like 7 people no
one cares about." The other religions have been around for thousands of years while this one has been around for barely 50 years. Best to stop the youngest one while it's still fresh. And who's to say the other millions of people are worth more of a damn if they're composed of nobodies no one cares about either?
"Real religions kill millions while Scientology has killed like 7 people
no one cares about." I think their family members care plenty about them. And the last time I checked, the Crusades occured over 500 years ago. Times have changes. Also, the only Muslims killing people are the extremist ones. The problem at hand here is that the OFFICAL CHURCH, not just a rag-tag extremist group, is doing the killing, the scamming, etc. And it must be stopped.

I find this especially chilling, because they would have me stop taking my anti-depressants...without those, I would have been dead a long time ago. Meanwhile, 'Real religions kill millions while Scientology has killed like 7
people...' This is true, which is why I believe on the whole, religion is the single most destructive thing in human history, and has set us back far too many times. All religion.
Whoever made this knwe what they were doing, basically Smoothmedia is great. I find the bathtub incident interesting, as on the original Why Are They Dead thing, it said that a few Scientologist members entered the room prior to the police investigation and removed a number of items, meaning it may have been a murder. Note that there was that "sleeping" sign, it makes me wonder who put it there... Overall, a great YTMND. Maybe this can be extended though, the guy who jumped off the building needs
To the debate at the begginning of the comments of the difference between Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Scientology. (If anyone is actually reading, I'll give my two cents). People don't die inconspicuosly at hotels in Mecca or the Vatican. People don't die giving confession (in relation to the "help" Lisa recieved after she was in that accident), and you don't have to pay a dime to go to a Church or Mosque or Temple (except for gas), or to pay for a confetion or mass or prayer.
I beleive before he died, L. Ron Hubbard admitted to saying scientology was no more than a silly little joke for him, he said he based his "religion" off of his science fiction novels and said nobody should really beleive in it. Though I find scientology itself harmless and stupid knowing the fact that Hubbard used it as comedy relief, I'm scared of it just because of the fact Tom Cruise is in it. I just can't wait till the damn spaceship comes and they all kill themselves to hitch a ride on it, damn cults
i thought it was really good that you exposed scientology for what it really is...but this isn't exactly the right place for it. I recommend you make a documentary or something. As many other ppl said before me, this is YTMND. As in, funny, jokes, haha, you know, that stuff. This is the right thing to do, but the wrong place to do it.
Serious business. You know, L. Ron Hubbard and his church sound a lot like a cross between Eric Bauman and Jack Thompson. The Church uses a crack legal team to evade justice (Bauman), and L. Ron Hubbard, according to Wikipedia, "was also convinced psychiatrists were themselves deeply unethical individuals, committing 'extortion, mayhem and murder.'" He uses terms that describe his own cult to describe the people he dislikes, kind of like Thompson does with words that describe himself.
Everyone who's judging Scientology based on this YTMND: Please don't judge all the members as evil people because of the silliness or corrupt nature of their beliefs and actions. Some Scientologists may be corrupt and may do horrible things, but that doesn't mean everyone in the group is same way. There is quite a large chance that some members of the religion are decent, friendly people.
