if you click google ads, he get's about 10 cents or so per click, I think... I wouldn't know becaause the alst time I placed some ads on my site was a long time ago... It also depends on the traffic size too
May 4th, 2007
(1)
why let ads f*ck your computer up when you can just whitelist ytmnd :)

From the AdSense Page: "Advertisers can also bid to appear on your site on a CPM (cost per thousand impressions) basis. Both CPC and CPM bids compete in our AdWords program to ensure that you optimize your ad revenue." I know that Max specifically said before that us going around clicking ads does not help; though he may have said that because the terms of use of AdSense says you are not allowed to say anywhere on your page anything asking people to click the ads.

yeah... i mean that would be too easy

On most CPC ads, google tracks ROI. This means if YTMND has a large amount of people who click ads but don't follow through with buying the product, in the long run we get lower quality ads. So basically clicking ads for the hell of it (while against the terms of service) is only a short term increase in revenue, but it evens out in the long run. Plus it gets me in trouble.
May 14th, 2007
(1)
But max, nobody has ever bought anything from an internet ad. Ever. Think about it: when was the last time YOU bought something because you saw it on a banner ad on a website?

^WRONG.... An ad on YTMND made me start playing a MMO-RPG.

There is a feature in adblock that lets you block the ads but still load them its in the options under support websites add ytmnd to this if you still want to use adblock for things, whitelisting works too

I know, but Max's message can apply to many webpages, not just ytmnd.

I've never even heard of it before. I just didn't want to use over-done ytmnd music so I searched around for samples wav's of songs related to money.

Well the only reason I installed in the first place was to block the music so it's kinda maxs fault (backlash) but I will unblock the ads because i don't really care. I left y fly up because it didn't really bother me in the first place
(0)
Ads never bothered me enough to bother installing things like that.

The adds fit in so nicely I hardly notice them anymore.. easy to phase out. I can see why people use the blocker for other video sites (most of them are terrible compared to this). Does whitelisting give the site the same amount of money? If so, Gendo might i suggest editing it to say "Join Me or Whitelist"?

do i have to click an ad to get ytmnd money? or is it enough to just stop using adblock on ytmnd?
May 1st, 2007
(0)
Hard to say. Some adds get money for each time they are clicked; other just for each time the page is visited.
(0)
Clicking ads just to click them is a bad idea. After a while the ad's will become worthless and page views and clicks will mean nothing.
(0)
do i have to do anything in IE so he gets money? Well i added ytmnd to my allow page anyways. someone let me know if i dont have to though, cuz id prefer to block if it dosent make a difference!

No, you also need to sponsor. Preferably this site.

I use adblock for those pesky ads with sound, or for images spammed on forums

Use flashblock. Great program!!!
May 3rd, 2007

I use Flashmute. Not just for ads, but also being able to play flash games without sound.
(0)
I never installed it, never that little ad in the corner really was all that imposing, it isn't like we have to see those full screen ads, or the flashy ones, but thankyou for doing your part.

I whitelisted this site, but I don't see the yfly corner pic still... did Max take that off or am I missing something?!?!
May 2nd, 2007
(-1)
did you guys even read the passage? we regulars aren't the source of income anyway. the anti-yfly sites did spread a negative attitude toward the ad-revenue system, but as long as the ad-clickers are still clickin...in other words, there's no point in getting rid of your ad blockers if you don't click on some ads and pretend to act interested.

I'm not going to turn off my adblocking software because seeing as I don't click on any ads and never will, it makes no difference to YTMND.
May 2nd, 2007
(1)
Only certain types of ads get paid per click. Others pay per visit to the site. Max himself said in a news update a while back that clicking the ads doesn't help.
May 4th, 2007

the google ads should help when you click them... I had google ads before, you do get a small fraction depending on your CPC, usually isn't a lot though

Instead you tell people to go to the forums because you know barely any1 is signed up there. you just get the usual losers who lurk there and share inside cack jokes. put the post back up and let us comment. do you wanna become digg or something? i smell sell out.

Ads are annoying, but unfortunately, you wouldn't know half of what you know if it wasn't for advertising. I am not just talking about banners, pop-ups, or sneaky little YFLY corner triangles, but billboards, television commercials, newspaper advertisements, etc. It pays the rent, the bills, and for your sorry *ss coming here. Just f*cking deal with it. Also, c*cks.
May 4th, 2007

I never use adblock, because as a web dev myself I know how much owners need ads to stay a float. Maybe the article Max wrote will educate a few people.

Good sir, I direct you here: http://sitening.com/blog/2006/09/27/crash-ie6-with-only-css/ Also people using IE6 or earlier get pwned by the following line of code: for (x in document.write) { document.write(x);}

YTMND sounds never load properly for me with firefox. I'm stuck viewing it in IE.
May 5th, 2007
(0)
What about me? I don't have AdBlock, I have NoScript blocking annoying scripts and other bad things. It is set to allow YTMND.com, but by default it blocks googlesyndication.com and google-analytics.com - both of which are the actual source of google AdSense advertisements, to prevent me from being bugged on other sites. Thus my problem: I wish to allow advertisement on YTMND, but nowhere else. How do I do that?
May 5th, 2007
(0)
You do realize you need to click those ads for him to any cash right?
May 5th, 2007
(0)
If you're going by impressions, adblock does not block those. It just blocks you from seeing the ads.
May 5th, 2007
(1)
Opera is better. Also just edit your host file instead of using adblock.

May 6th, 2007

I've never used an extension in Firefox (I prefer the perfect simplicity of stock 1.0.7 - though I've unfortunately had to upgrade to 2.*) I haven't used IE in ages, and outside of YTMND, I mainly use Opera 9.*. I have no use for ad blocking software. My mind has been trained to block out ads since 1995 when I first went online.
May 6th, 2007
(0)
Just uninstalled it too after reading max's post, its worth putting up with the BS ads to keep YTMND going, IMO at least.
May 6th, 2007

whitelisted baby.
May 6th, 2007
(0)
I never had it to begin with :D
May 7th, 2007
(0)
Well, AdBlock just doesn't *show* you the ads; the code is still loaded. So wouldn't pay-per-page-load ads be unaffected? (Look at the page source and you can still see all the code.) Unless I'm wrong and it just skips the code entirely... But yeah just whitelist it, people. Max is getting tired of Mac & cheese and ramen! :(
(0)
WRONG!

This is 'tarded ADblock pwns this page.

um what the f*ck i dont even have it installed lolol

Again you guys do realize that Adblock plus makes no difference AT ALL, right? It doesn't stop the ads from loading, it only stops you from seeing them. If you really want to help click every f*cking ad you see until there's no tomorrow.
May 9th, 2007
