IDT, I rarely disagree with you, but I do on this. I look at this as a classic style YTMND. Picture, sound, text and a singular focus. It may not be the most original site, but it far better than taking an image from collegehumor.com and adding price is right music. In it's own context here, it works.
Now you are suggesting that I've stolen "the work of others"? I thought that stealing to you referred only to whether your retarded cousin could reproduce a given site. Now you are suggesting that I've co-opted someone else's work. Whose work did I steal? And what man is an island that he must not rely on the work of others to produce his own?
Locke5, precisely. idownvote has an extremely naive understanding of the creative process, all of his posturing to the contrary notwithstanding. Much of ytmnd is humorous because it invokes cultural icons and schemas that resonate with the viewers. In order to achieve this resonance, the ytmnd creator must invariably "steal," in idownvote's terms, from another source. To do otherwise would constitute an "inside joke" site, which as we all know is highly discouraged by ytmnd.
"I know that the sites you had were all original pictures taken by you,
sounds you created, and completely original ideas." Sigh. Why do I even bother? I've explained myself repeatedly. "I have NEVER EVER said that using elements from movies/tv/music/whatever is
stealing... as long as you're creative with it! "
KaneRobot, actually, I don't think this is topical nonsense at all. Although it specifically deals with the Anna Nicole Smith situation, the sentiment expressed is relevant to all news media and the cult of celebrity. The next time that some unimportant celebrity dies, the sentiment expressed here by Cafferty will be relevant again. The statement is a commentary not on the death of Anna Nicole but more broadly on the 24-hour news outlets and their tendency to play a story to death.
DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR LOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
5's all around! And IDV is a blatant moron. What's with this nonsense? YTMND is not a place where people go to artistically express comedy through and endless amount of creativity and originality. It's a place where people upvote something clever or funny (in this case both) for the rest of the community to see, may it be original or not. Besides, what would you have prefered he did with this YTMND? Is it a talkking Jack Cafferty owl that spouts ORLY after Wolf's reply, or do you fancy a techno remix of the
BrokenVisage, it wasn't just some slip of the tongue. Cafferty's comment was completely intentional. His comment speaks to the media's tendency to take unimportant and uninteresting stories, in this case Anna Nicole's death, and discuss them ad nauseam. If you're at all familiar with 24-hour news channels, you know what he's talking about.

lame picture. text not in all caps. i understand that you need a news-related still or screencap to get the joke across since the sound-byte isn't famous yet, but you need a cleaner shot. and, again, text needs to be all caps, and should read anna nicole smith, not just anna nicole. fix it and this is a pretty good ytmnd.
i can't figure out if he's kidding and making fun of the fact that the media won't shut up about this, like satire sorta, or if he's just retarded like all the rest of the media that is too busy covering some fat slut who died over an islamic kid who shot and killed 7 white people in salt lake city a couple days ago..
