i respect your effort of course, but its pretty poorly executed. it reminds me of http://portrait.ytmnd.com/ , which on the other hand, is pretty fantastic.

dercreep... if you knew how to read, or knew any history, you would also know that HITLER WAS A NAZI... the speech you hear in the audio for this site IS HITLER...

Was the Red Star army not of the Soviet Union? Of which Stalin was in charge? Also, Klasky's rendition of a "YTMND Soldier" far outweighs this- No offense.

wasp... i respect your opinion, but the RSA is not official... if any of this were remotely real, RSA would be a homegrown force, hence militia... no offense taken, but i am curious as to what in the execution was poor?

Well it seems almost sloppy, to tell you the truth... Also, my point was not that it was "Poorly Executed"- that was typogra's point. My point was that it's a little historically awkward to me, being that I thought that the Red Star Army had nothing to do with hitler- that it had something to do with the Soviet Union. Forgive me for not being a history buff, I've just never really been interested in that sort of stuff.

the only people upvoting this are stupid asians who don't know the difference between hitler and stalin

I don't either, good effort though. But Hitler, Communism and YTMND all sound wrong when mixed together.

man, you guys are harsh this time around...
August 27th, 2006
(0)
Man! So much vitriol for what is in fact a relatively average-good YTMND. I suppose what stops this from being great is there's no clear call to action, aside from "donate today." Does that mean "Sponsor this YTMND so we can help Max keep YTMND afloat?" Is it just a joke? If it IS just a joke, what does being in the Red Star Army entail? You're blowing my MIND. Okay, no more comments before coffee from now on, I promise. :D

it's just puerile and vacuous (among other things); the way you just haphazardly combine disparate elements in an attempt to make something coherent. as sexymofo would say "you fail, please try again ^_^"

seems interesting that downvoters almost always a bunch of their own 1 star sites...
August 27th, 2006
(0)
That would be because people who divide the world into "upvoters" and "downvoters" engage in anonymous e-venge all the time. Their logic is that they'll retaliate against public one-star votes that have comments by making anonymous one-star votes. For being the self-appointed "good guys," most YTMND users sure are gutless little bitches.
August 27th, 2006

For examples, compare the comments on my sites vs. their total scores.
August 27th, 2006

inkdrinker makes a very good point. definitely not all, not even most, but a good number of users who complain loudest about the act of downvoting are e-vengers. the user Alijia made several sites complaining of downvoters but when I 1'd one of his sent me this hiliarious pm:
August 27th, 2006
(0)
"the only reason i am not downvoting everything you have is becuase... the "Bush Doesn't care About Mac People". Very Funny... Now shoot me some up votes on my higher votes and I will do the same." - and after that continued to blackmail to get a 5 on a site he actually stole... he's an out there case but there are similar ones.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
and when I told him I woudlnt back down and give him the 5s, made around 5 more sites that night about downvoting. you should check out his stuff, pretty hilarious. Again, the name is Alijia, true Lord of YTMND.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
Also, let me tell you the site becomes a lot more fun when you stop caring about your scores. Just create, make what you like and find people who feel the same way. It's a lot more fun than stressing out over every tenth of a point.
August 27th, 2006

I'm not sure about this whole "downvoter" conversation going on here... downvote/upvote is pretty much the same as left/right partisanship in American politics... there's no middle ground. And logrolling is "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" only, of course, it's "you f*cked me I'll f*ck you back."
August 27th, 2006
(0)
Red Star = Soviet. Why do you have Hitler's voice? =/
August 27th, 2006
(0)
The latter being e-venging. Also, messing with downvoters can be fun as their psyches are fragile. I mocked and pm'ed this ridiculous downvote flamer and when he failed to justify any of his actions and his flame got more ridiculous I made a personalized perma-ban site about him which he subsequently 5'ed and 5'ed every new site the rest of the night. Couple days later I checked back and... his account was gone. With a couple fresh 1's in his wake. Permabanned, I presume...?

sitsu and inkdrinker. first ytmnd comments i read in a month and theyre sucking each others c*cks. does that happen a lot now? i thought inkdrinker vanished up his own fundament for good. guess you can't get rid of something that so easy. do we have to swab him first?

August 27th, 2006
(0)
sitsu, inkdrinker, korf... it isn't that it really bothers me about the up and down voting, but more that people here think that this is some sort of political/historical statement... it is not... it's just a piece of "art" on the internet... of course, everything on the internet is real, right?
August 27th, 2006

I dont really have an opinion on the site which is why i didnt vote... I just saw inks comment. we dont agree on a whole lot when it comes to YTMND but I didnt want his comment to be disregarded just because its him. Somehow that ends up to 'c*cksucking' when it comes to that assumptuous douche redhex.
August 27th, 2006

the guy in the poster only votes 1's and 5's, what a noob
August 27th, 2006

This is f*ggy.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
I agree on the point that leaving comments (specifically helpful criticism) sets a good example to all, regardless of the vote. However, when people will say "you make a lot of upvotes, you must be a pussy" this is obviously flawed logic, just as it is to assume those with many downvotes do it to act "badass" or get attention.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
So yeah, it's possible to genuinely enjoy a lot of sites, that's not a bad thing... it means you have a healthy sense of humor. It's also fine to have lower voting standards, though it more pressure is probably put on lower voters to explain their 1-star votes, which isn't usually too much to ask.. if they're honest about it, and aren't douchebags about it, then there should be no problem.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
And I don't quite understand how typogra, myself and others are being "harsh" I gave the site the rating I thought it deserved... not a big deal. It's called constructive criticism. I'm not a downvoter. Look at my vote spread- more often than not I tend to vote 5. But Ink is right in the respect that once you've been on YTMND for a while, you stop caring so much as to what people think of you, and start to care more about other peoples' sites.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
harsh was a generalized comment... some of these people are leaving comments that take no thought... specifically, things like "This is f*ggy." or "the only people upvoting this are stupid asians who don't know the difference between hitler and stalin"
August 27th, 2006
(0)
i really don't care about the rating myself, but, it is annoying to go through the motions just to see some retard say something stupid about a piece of worthless art on an internet site... on the other hand, it is a very interesting social experiment...
August 27th, 2006
(0)
i wonder how many of these people have burned cats and laughed, or if they live in their mothers' basements at the age of 36... or if they are just bored kids who think it's funny to try to piss off strangers...
August 27th, 2006
(0)
and i definitely am glad you stand behind your votes, or there would really be no point in having a rating system... of course, it still doesn't work, just like every other governing system i've seen... but where are the actual flaws?
August 27th, 2006
(0)
either way... i still printed a pretty decent copy of this pic and am planning on framing it and sticking it on my wall... I AM PLEASED with it, and that is what matters, right? now i just have to figure out how to make my picture frame play the sound, too... hehehe
August 27th, 2006

You suck.
August 27th, 2006
(0)
no, I genuinely believe it is mostly dumb asians with a infantile grasp of early 20th century european history that are upvoting this. that and a few other generally stupid people. sorry if my opinion "annoys" you, oh great and masterful artist
August 27th, 2006

There are different types of downvoters. I don't like downvoters but some are better than others. Inkdrinker has left some pretty amusing comments. I would not place him in the same category as idiots like sexymofo or Xiu.

F*ckin' commies
August 28th, 2006

I understand from a historical point this is incorrect. However, it promotes helping YTMND, so I can easily take it as a joke. Some people have sticks permanantly shoved up their asses on this site... don't worry about them. Do what you love, f*ck the haters. :D

August 28th, 2006

I understand your frustration at mindless downvoters, but understand that not all of the people on ytmnd want to (or need to) justify their votes on sites to anyone. Nor do they deserve e-vengeful downvoting on their sites in retaliation to said votes. People need to learn to take things in stride. Instead of arguing with people's opinions, try and think about why the person may have commented how they did.
