You win! You should've titled it "The Unfunny Truth about Copyright Infringment" though. :(

good, but kind of hipocritical huh. http://revengeonebaums.ytmnsfw.com/

4'd because I'd like to see evidence of how much ebaum is making. where did you get this $8,000 figure for the advertising?
(0)
Yeah, I admit, I had my share of spamming but then I sat down and thought about it and it really is a dumb thing to do and I regret that i spammed so much.

it has nothing to do with money. it has to do with the fact that ebaum has a staff which is responsible for posting content and doing due diligence on verifying sources, ytmnd does not. also this is way too long and full of misinformation.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
It's true that those conditions help in consideration of use of copyrighted material being protected as fair-use... but that's not air-tight protection by any means. Non-profits aren't strictly exempt, that's a common misconception. There's no agreement as to how little can be used cause it's all in these nebulous subjective terms. Fair-use for parody is also thin ice. Precedents in these cases are almost never conclusive - it comes down to who has the $$ to fight it out...
July 25th, 2006
(0)
God, I just started to think about all that spamming I did a while back...
July 25th, 2006

Can you name any YTMNDs with content stolen from Ebaums?
July 25th, 2006

Someone needed to f*cking say it.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
lawl. facts FTW
(0)
And instead of getting something of the Cornell website you might want to look into the actual statutory construction of these terms in the different jurisdictions implicated in any alleged copyright infringement. Some general Contract Law page for first-year students isn't really valid information. But yes... spamming makes us all look like children and some of us are clearly old as sh*t.

So is anyone going to court against ebaums world? I mean is everyone who had content stolen all talk? I've just been wondering if it's just going to remain a childish internet war? I want to see some action, I want to search google news for ebaum and get hundreds of court cases against ebaums world you know? But I doubt anyone will bother, which is a shame....Anyway on this ytmnd, well said, someone had to say it 1,337 stars for you!
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Thank you
July 25th, 2006

July 25th, 2006

1'd for lack of spelling. Spellcheck is in your future, son. Look into it. 1'd again because you clearly don't understand copyright laws overly well. Look into that even harder.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
I never spammed their forums. NOTE TO EVERYONE: CITE SOURCES.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Interesting....
July 25th, 2006
(0)
The people on Ebaumsworld insult us and such, and support such a site, so why are you saying that its not their fault?
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Class Action FTW!
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Not only do you win five stars for being an intelligent motherf*cker, you win five prostitutes. Use them well.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
someone has made the point that some of the stuff he stole wasn't officially copyrighted. what is a good argument for that? just curious.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
You've pointed out the facts. Alan Becker couldn't taken down ebaumsworld with a snap of the fingers, however...well I think we all know, but we can forgive mr. becker for the money. It is appearent that Mr.Bauman will possibly do anything to end a lawsuit against them with his victory.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Here's something ya need to do when a situration similar to Mr.Becker's happened to you. If ya ever go to sue mr.bauman, he might pay you alot of money to drop the charges, if he won't take it back, take it to the authoritys, the media, etc, so people will think he is bribing.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Then when come's the next day at court, simply give the money back to mr.bauman, use his own actions against him in court, and everyone at trail will know money can't buy everything. If he say's "I bought it fair and square", say "Did I say I would sell my 'Content' to you or anyone at all?", ???, Profit.

July 25th, 2006
(0)
Tighten up the spelling.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
so get everyone to take them to court.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
5 but take note that ebaum forum users are BIG f*ggots.
(0)
I mostly agree with what you're doing, but by your logic Youtube is safe from being sued because they don't make any money.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Spamming is still cool though. But after remembering we could buy an adspace, I say YTMND diverts server funds for a month to buy an ad on the front page of eBaum, with a message of our choice. Good idea? Possibly.
(0)
Oh, and you better believe Max wishes YTMND could turn into the next cash cow like Something Awful. You don't think he talked to Guy Kawasaki http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1591840562/guykawasakico-20/102-5179549-1318541 for fun do you?

TRUTH! I never have spammed and never will. Somone should create a bait for him to steal and have a lawyer on hand already.
July 25th, 2006

Ebaum will one day destroy his own site, because he will steal content from Scientoligy. They'll probably bankrupt him, and this will all be over.

July 25th, 2006

"Tighten up the spelling."
July 25th, 2006
(-1)
YTMND is a parady site regardless of if "Max" profits or not. Most users here don't have the cash/determination to take ebaum to court, and I personally don't think they would win their case anyway depending on what state they choose to fight in. Spamming the forums is fun to watch, and I'm sure causes quite a bit of hassle to ebaum's moderators and such. I would imagine it also increases traffic here. So f*ck your maturity.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
You could also say that by adding his watermark and not giving credit to the real author, it does appear like he's passing it off as his own work, so not only is it copyright, but plagarism.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Yes. Very yes. EXTREMELY YES!!!
July 25th, 2006
(0)
I HIGHLY doubt YTMND is a registered non-profit organization. Also, you have no idea how much Max makes off of the site. Does he put a lot back into it? Sure. But that doesn't mean he's not keeping any ad money for himself.

I like how people talk as if they actually know how much max makes off ytmnd too. "Also, you have no idea how much Max makes off of the site"
July 25th, 2006
(-1)
Some good points made here, but I don't agree fully. People have taken Bauman to court and lost. Posting on YTMND are linked to the users that posted them. Ebaums forums are fair game, the people that post there are blind to the truth about Bauman ethics. Check out somethingawful.com.

this is just a good a reason for us, the ytmnder's/interneters, to make our own material, use our own imagination and skills. so if that prick (eric b) does steal it u can take his *ss to court and put him down for good, also get alot of money :> but i still think the ebaums' forum member should still atleast be made fun of for being followers/supporters of that "guy".

Yes, but eBaumsworld users submit content to eBaumsworld that they think should be on eBaumsworld. So they DO loot and plunder
July 25th, 2006
(0)
lol, speeling erars
(-1)
WRONG. Get your facts straight. YTMND.com is not a LEGAL non-profit org, therefore this entire argument is f*ckING RETARDED. If it were a legal non-profit than you would be correct, however I see no where on the site that states this.
July 25th, 2006
(-1)
all this is is a bunch of has assed assumptions, there is not one credible fact in the whole presentation. and being someone who works with adsense I'm confident max makes enough to cover his expenses and still has enough left over for rent and some persian hookers every now and then
July 25th, 2006

A level headed assessment of the situation, except for one thing. Suing the Baumans isn't going to be as simple as you might think. They're members of God's Chosen People(tm), and that alone is often reason enough for them to escape punishment in our corrupted system.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Informative, but the ebaums forum people are idiots, so it's definitely fine to take it out on them.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
INSTANTLY 5'D!
(0)
i say just post this link all over the ebaum's forums. ultimate pwnage
(0)
Yes... so true. There's a slight spelling error in the middle though. It's very distracting. Fix it.
July 27th, 2006
(0)
Yeah, but it's funnier to just randomly annoy everyone involved, accomplishing nothing. It suits YTMND better.

The only reason we dislike the forum members is because they choose to support and believe in ebaumsworld.com
July 28th, 2006

I agree...the spamming has never accomplished anything, and it makes us look like much more of dumbasses. If anything, give links to this YTMND. I promise to attempt to re-convince anyone who downvotes this.
July 28th, 2006
(0)
I'm pretty neutral on this subject
July 29th, 2006
(0)
maybe you're right, but wtf is the fun in that? don't take it out on the forum members of ebaum? who think ebaumsworld is this great haven of creativity? what's worse? he who steals to creat ebaumsworld or he who visits and enjoys with ignorant bliss?
July 30th, 2006

That's a smart YTMND from a very mature individual. It's fun to see YTMNDs of the dopes from eBaum forum users though.
July 31st, 2006
(0)
Everyone needs to see this! "not non-profit" sounds kinda clumsy. I thought "for profit" was the proper term... But meh, in the words of Vader: "We can end this destructive conflict!"
(-1)
Uhh, WRONG. The fact that YTMND is non-profit doesn't mean that it is protected under copyright law. Read the sentence in your YTMND regarding copyright law again. Not only does it have to be non-profit but the material can only be used for "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research." YTMND is none of these things. NOT EVEN COPYWRITE LAW CAN SAVE YOU FROM ME
July 31st, 2006
(0)
''I mostly agree with what you're doing, but by your logic Youtube is safe from being sued because they don't make any money.'' Youtube posts videos that are still being sold as DVDs, and shows that are still aired, etc. That detracts from the materials worth and is an infringement, nonprofit or not. OGROK, find me a YTMND with copywrited material that isn't a parody. Really.
July 31st, 2006
(-1)
Ebaums STEALS the content and the only change to that content it to add is watermark. There was not reactivity or thought that went into what he does. In addition, some of his sites are not even hosted on his site. He leached the Cornholio sound board and shut the guy down. YTMND users, for the most part, edit the content and make something new from it. The YTMND usage is still copyright infringement. At least, at a minimum, it’s creative.

The one flaw in your argument is the fact that a lawsuit against Eric is an 'un-loseable' case. Bauman has so many lawyers it wouldn't matter. Love the ytmnd, though.

copyright law is not very rigid and is very broadly interpreted, usually in favor of the plaintiff of any given suit.
August 13th, 2006

It would be cool if it actually would work that way, but for a person to take ebaum to court, said person would have to practically outspend them, oh, and need I remind you, they have teh monies.

Yeah to your stupid little Phoenix Wright thing I would of just said thats the dumbest loop-hole ever. Thatd be like me saying "Hey Sentry (a friend of mine in RL) I made a place to upload user created submissions on www.ergwow.com (my site dont go there its a WIP) so I would like to see *random copywritten material* on there but I cant so would you??"

Good points, the thing is that if you do take it out on eBaums forums in mass raids such as the YTMND-Day attack, you're in effect f*cking over the entire website by crashing the servers. Generic spamming is just that, retarded and done by NARVs. On the other hand, most "stolen" content on YTMND is also heavily modified from its original state. If it's not, then it usually sucks and gets low ratings. In addition, Max isn't responsible for that content.

Wait a second here... YTMND's funny and entertaining content comes from stolen things, yes. But what makes them funny or entertaining is the very original and creative editing coming from registered users, from simple jokes, to something along the wide array of very original inside jokes ytmnd has (that ebaumsworld doesn't). Ebaumsworld registered users do not do anything creative for their site, rather they steal things and submit them. Ebaumsworld then claims responsibility of the content.
