I'm calling shens on this. I have no reason to believe the word of someone from SA. Even if it is true, then I'd like to give all the goons taking part in the mockery a big "f*ck you".
Max, does your algorithm for rating users take into account the fact that everybody except for you votes 1 or 5 almost every time? I was working on a statistical model for users' voting habits (just for fun, and based only on the voting histogram, which has since been replaced by a Flash pie chart [boo!]---you *do* have access to more information than we do), but it's been on the back burner for a few weeks. I was wondering if that's the kind of voter you want to favor. Oh, and have fun in Baton Rouge.
But you're not putting it into context. The only reason it has anything to do with Linux is because there'd never be a proper license having terms most factions are OK with. Other than that, it's either about pure fair use or it's about plunderin' booty^W^Wcircumventing technological protection measures, making any site enabling such a thing liable under the DMCA. (Do the safe harbor provisions cover that part of the law and not only infringement?)
Not a popup yet. Not even a notice from Firefox. One core is under 30% (now 35-40% with the spinning stars in the background) load on my X server, and the Firefox process itself is at 15% on the other.
Firefox + Adblock + NoScript FTW. Now will somebody please give Max some money---maybe sponsor the old "money has no artistic value" site---before this place completely goes to hell? (I do not use Paypal, so I do not sponsor.)
The problem is that he went about this in the wrong way. Max should not have suddenly made these ads appear. People react badly when they are subjected to sudden change.
