1. The only reason the M16 is better at longer ranges is cause the round is lighter.
2. The AK requires little to no cleaning where the M16 practically needs cleaning after firing 200-500 rounds or the carbon build up will cause jams. The only way an AK won't fire is if it has something blocking the bolt.
3. Most of the M16A2s in the US arsonal are 10-20 year old M16A1s modified to meet the new specifications, and most of these are in terrible condition.
