5'd because you're right. FFIV was good. FFVII was great, but the materia system just doesn't seem all that great. FFVI (or FFIII US) was the best FF they've ever made. FFVIII killed it for me -- the experience, pay, and spell-learning systems, along with Triple Triad having to do SO much with a bunch of the sidequests, killed my interest in anything beyond that in the series.
I can only 4 because The Black Mages add a bunch of extra sh*t to the FF songs that doesn't need to be there. Great talent but I cringe every time one of their remixed parts.
