unfortunately i only got about half way through the comments before 2 hours had passed and i just couldn't read anymore, so sorry if i'm repeating anything anyone has said, but, 1. assume souls exist, 2. souls must be "something", 3. anything can be viewed as energ: we assume the soul is an inner energy (lifeforce?), 4. World population keeps increasing, 5. We are constantly in need of more souls 6. The most efficent (and therefore likely) model for soul conservation is recycling souls,
