Whetstone, the reason people are so horrified by religious killings is because of the sheer hypocrisy of it. Atheists don't pretend that they are expelling demons or saving your soul when they kill you. They don't tell you that you should be grateful to them for torturing you. They don't kill you in the name of a god that condemns murder. I'm not supporting atheism, but I do understand why many people turn their backs on religion.
