http://games.slashdot.org/games/05/07/18/216249.shtml?tid=204&tid=187 You idiots. EA is the PUBLISHER for Valve. They are only going to DISTRIBUTE! Nothing more!
July 19th, 2005

Exactly, this actually is a good thing for Valve. Because, like it or not, EA knows how to distribute and advertise. I seriously doubt they'll be interfering with Valve's production, though.

Yeah, true, but EA IS STILL INVOLVED!
July 19th, 2005

So? It's not like EA is going to overrun Valve's headquarters in Washington with an army of stormtroopers and replace all their computers with kittens. If anything happens out of the ordinary it might be an ad campaign for HL2 X-Box.

EA sucks - they are too corperate. Valve is gay enough - but when you get EA involved.... I dont have respect for them anymore. HL2 = Awesome. CS:S = teh sux

So is EA going to cut Valve's games in half and make them release endless expansions?

Rogue Agent would have been good if not for EA rushing it. I don't see why people cut KotOR2 so much slack but whine about Rogue Agent. It would have been GREAT had they put in all their ideas in it. Don't forget, EA will also make Valve release game

LENGTH OWNED: games with menu systems coded by three year olds and patches which fix nothing and completely break said games. (See BF2)

I just bought Battlefield 2. I want to personally walk into EA world HQ and see how many of then I can beat the sh*t out of with a shovel before security shoots me.

Seriously, no one but those f*cks would dare release that game until the xmas rush when the game, you know, WORKED. But no big title was ready for summer, so they just released the MOST-ready one. God damn.

EA may just be distributing, but they have a knack for advertising a products release date befor its been set, and then forcing it to be released then, finished or not

For some reason Motor World Online comes to mind. It was the greatest racing game of it's time, but EA kept it low-key, didn't advertise, and then when they started to spread a little and pick up on the younger demographic, they closed it down altogether. Now they won't even release source code for it, or acknowledge that such a game ever even existed.

Hopefully, though, with their pushy deadlines, they'll avoid a Vivendi mistake like what we encountered with Steam and the realease of HL2.

Come on, it's not like it's the end of the world. All it means is that we'll see Valve games in game stores, rather than just on Steam.

heh, ever since I got a sweet deal from ATI, I had no need to actually buy a hard copy of any of valve's games. I just buy them off steam. valve makes far more money that way and EA gets none!
