but,
the whole thing is though, a big part of what makes the original ytmnd, and all it's basic-format reincarnations, so unique, smart, and "artistic," have to do with the limitations of the format. a huge part about "art" is the limitations and restrictions of whatever medium you're working with. it's how the artist (or in this case, the "user," for ytmnd) works with/works around/maximizes on those limitations, and how the final product represents the medium itself - it's these things that make art what it is, and they even be appreciated separately from or together with whatever message the artist intends to communicate.
as far as "faggy short films" so, with ytmnd's restictions, using gif format, the foreground/background, uploading sound separately, all these things create very unique limitations the user has to compensate for and work with, and thus create the particular choices and trends that make these "faggy short films" interesting, clever and unique. what i'm saying is "faggy short films" are subject to and generate the same kinds of creativity and "artistic" trends as the basic format, very arguably more so.
not that this retardation i've created is anything special or "hipster-wet-fream-Artistic-with-a-capital-A," but ytmnd's format DID force me to create something that is unique, removed from any sort of normal internet-video-culture format. My foreground gif is 1 fps (that's frames-per-second), which seamlessly gives way to a 10 fps gif, allowing a full 2 minute song to play. again, i'm not trying to suck my own dicky here, fucky, i'm just using it as an example of why "faggy short films" can and should be appreciated and thought about, albeit very briefly, just as much as basic format ytmnds.
and jeez, no offense, but being dead serious with your "faggy short film" term is more low brow than [site nigflip:site] and certainly not as funny or sexy.
