Of course, both of those considerations for music are way different than the typical 16bit racing game music most other users would have chosen to put on this site. Actually, sounds like there could be potential for an edit like that with a 'shopped in game sprite racing around downtown.

I knew the creator within seconds of hearing the music. Now I want to make a "Different Trains" site.

Or Koyaanisqatsi?

Well that and as mentioned in the notes Adams "Short Ride" are both obvious choices (within this little niche of music) ... the clarinet in the Reich piece seems to mesh with East Coast suburb very well though. (Perhaps a musical cue unconsciously imprinted into many Americans by Aaron Copland and co.)

It crossed my mind, but I've already done a site with Koyaanisqatsi ([site thefountainofyouth:site]) and kinda wanted to pick something a bit less obvious. Not that any of this is really obvious, as Sanka pointed out.

Great site, by the way!

Very nice - looks like we both are fans of The Grid. I tried using the cadenza from the Glass Concert Fantasy for Two Timpanis before (unlimitedpowershirt.ytmnd.com), but it was the wrong picture-sound-text combination.

I'd love to see someone make that segment of music work -- it is truly freaky.

A "Different Trains" site would make my day.

This one made me think of how pitiful I look when I use street view... even on my own street. Because I often replace the real experience of walking down a street with its virtual counterpart, something that should be done solely for the purpose of knowing where exactly is the dog groomer or if it's really Joe going out of that sex shop, wearing the sweater you made him last Christmas.

I was initially wanting to incorporate this idea, something like "Interests: taking long walks on Google Streetview." I couldn't really figure out how to fit it in, though, and besides, it would've required a very slow animation.

never seen a timelapse gif with eerily upbeat, almost serene music before. especially gifs with blue skys and trees. or timelapse traffic. or a computer screen composition. or a screenshot of google.

I'm tempted to think a song or two from SimCity 4 took musical cues from this Steve Reich fellow.

Nice concept man! Nice to see a site without a black or white background for once in a while too.
