There is a hotly contested middle ground for what is considered reusing memes and what is considered ripping off. One user will have a different take than another. I personally think that they can be one in the same. Interruption fads like Lando and Mangione aren't considered ripping off when they're used, even though they are all exactly the same picture, just with a different frame, so to speak. Technically, though, they are ripping off the first site that spawned the fad. You could even argue that the later interruption fads are ripping off of the earlier ones, but they're still considered fads. Basically, my answer to your question is that there is no bonafide answer.

As for when it will be safe to post YTMND's in poor taste, well....I think poor taste is a characteristic that YTMND itself has acquired over the years, especially after Moon Man. If you're gonna post something in bad taste, well, this is the place to post it.
