One might argue that although this is the "funny part," it becomes less funny in absence of "daaaah!" It's kind of like hearing a punchline without the joke.

I, however, am indifferent on the matter. To me, both of these sites are (mildly) funny in their respective ways.

By "both these sites," you mean this abbreviated clip, and the one on break.com from which someone literally stole and made a YTMND without changing or creating anything new.

I understand that this isn't really all that funny. In fact, it's pretty cold hearted, since it's just some kid crashing into a pole. This is more or less a contrast to my other site, [site haaawbog:site], where there is a happy ending (the child is OK).

The moral of the story is, this site and my other one are just minimalist examples of actually doing something new, and not just regurgitating something from somewhere else. If I wanted to watch someone get hurt, I'd go to cracked. I come to YTMND see art and creativity in its crudest albeit often humorous forms.

I completely, 100% agree with you, and it's really good to hear someone share my view on these things. When I was talking about the humor of "both these sites," I wasn't actually talking about the [i]quality[/i] of them. I totally 1'd the original, and I 1 anything that is purely stolen content. If you were actually interested in my voting guidelines, I could probably go on for quite a while.

I do appreciate the point that you're making. Honestly, some of my favorite kinds of sites are like this one--minimalist, brief, and only edited for length--because it shows how making just a few tweaks can completely change how you view something. Kacen and MurdarMachene have a huge library of examples.
