Looking back on this, I see that I kind of misinterpreted what this was supposed to be. He's supposed to be dancing, I guess, but the shooting still spoils the illusion.
However, looking back on this, I can also read it another way--that in order to put out the fire, somebody shoots the "old man" such that he falls on top of the flames.
I'm reading way too much into this, aren't I?
