True. But I could say the same of the republican party. Both parties are dingbats that don't pick good candidates. Obama doesn't seem so bad though, definitely more likable than John Kerry. Well, actually...

Crusty your opinion doesn't matter, are you seriously going to pretend it wasn't the republican-led administration over the last 8 years that ran our economy into the ground?
September 30th, 2008
(1)
Btw, all candidates are better than poop. We get so caught up in debates over what is worse for this country that we forget that most of the time these are people that are, for the most part, decent human beings that get painted as demons for benefit the other party. These campaigns think the American people are so stupid and ignorant that we will only choose our candidate based on politics of fear. If one of the candidates becomes a monster to a voter, there is only one choice, and you get their vote.

Actually, you know what? It's a bit out of line to say that I discount your opinion. I'm not trying to be arrogant and snooty, I just think you are overreacting due to a miscommunications and exaggerations in the mainstream media. As I stated above, the other side is always the devil, but its not like that. I must say that McCain is a million times better than Bush, and Joe Biden is barely more qualified than Palin, so don't pretend that I have an extreme democratic bias, that negates all of my opinion.
September 30th, 2008
(1)
You know what? I hate getting into this sh*t, because in normal circumstances, our opinions on this wouldn't be brought up. And quite frankly, its all be for the better, because who really (in every day life) judge people based on politics that are out of their control anyway? NOBODY. So why do we let various beliefs affect us so much? *ssh*les that want to fill their ego, or line their pockets with oil money. F*ck Politics.

"wisdom"cube, are you going to pretend that the government is run by one man? We have a democratic-controlled congress with the lowest approval ratings in history, even lower than Bush and, contrary to hippie delusions, Bush is not an autocrat with absolute power. Congress, overrun with dems, has had at least as much to do with this collapse as anyone. So put down your Jack Daniels, turn off your George Clooney movies and do some objective research.

I think I prefer the Jack Daniels. And I never said the government was run by one man, but if you think that Bush was not a contributing factor in this royal f*ck up that is our economy, you are crazy (he did pick all the people in his administration after all). And if anything, having a democrat dominated congress meant that all new legislation got frozen, and no new damaging policies could be added.

And objective research isn't watching Fox News. I try to avoid the mainstream new media for political information when it comes to making observations that will shape my opinion on the issues at hand. If you did a little research you would know that Palin can't even construct basic coherent sentences let alone produce counter points to the questions being asked in an interview. How can she run our country? How could you possibly say that she is more qualified than someone who can actually articulate?

I don't care that palin is the VP, I would have rather had McCain pick someone else, but regardless I would rather have McCain as president then to subscribe to the Obama/Biden train. "Hope" is actually a perfect slogan for Obama "I hope I know what I'm doing!"

"[Sarah] can't even construct basic coherent sentences." Yes, she can, especially moreso than Uh-uh-uhbama when the teleprompter breaks or Joe "President FDR got on TV in 1929" Biden when he's hallucinating history. Is a 2-year governor with years of executive business experience as qualified to be VP as 30-year senator? No, she's not. Is she more qualified than a part-time *ssh*le college professor with 140 days of legislative experience and 0 days executive experience? You bet your sweet bippy she is.

Everyone knows the main reason for the f*ck-up economy, as you put it, is banks lending money to people with bad credit. That's exactly what your boy Obama trained his Marxist drones at ACORN to pressure banks into doing when he was chasing handouts in Chicago. This is small potatoes compared to what he'll do to our economy if he gets the White House. BTW attacking me for things I never said, such as "Bush not being a contributing factor" is an old fallacy known as a "straw man" argument.

you're an idiot. the government 'forced' the government to give people loans, rather than unregulated business realizing they could make money. riiiight. completely ignore Gramm and the Enron loophole and that the republicans have had control over the legislative branch forf*ckingever. pass the buck eternally, capitalism is just fine by me but morons who pretend it can do no wrong and make up boogeymen wherever they can find an inch are exactly what drove all this into the sh*tter.

as for Obama being less qualified than Palin, what a joke. Obama is no saint, but he's been a constitutional lawyer, led the f*cking harvard law review, and has been putting out his opinions and arguing them for a long time. it took a long time for him to be taken seriously, whereas Palin, who cant even handle a press conference, who skipped around 5 schools in 6 years, with a journalism degree, who can't name a supreme court case outside roe vs. wade, is suitable to handle these decisions?

Right, and all conservative news is fair and balanced. I'm not a liberal but I'm assuming that your statement was directed at me. Here's the thing, if we are all willing to type long elaborate paragraphs about why we think you are wrong, we are not against critical thought, and there is nothing objective about the media. I like bowling too. And you are probably a good guy in real life so why must we insult each other because we have different political views that have very little bearing on real life?

October 7th, 2008
(0)
You are right, I didn't mean it doesn't have any bearing our lives, but it does affect us very little, at least as long as we are able to live our privileged first world lives as average Americans. When I said real life I meant our own little small worlds that we live in socially in a day to day basis, not the big stuff that affects our world on a larger scale when it doesn't reach home.
October 7th, 2008
(0)
Unfortunately it might hit home very soon. I still don't think we shouldn't let political beliefs affect how we treat each other though. We are still all human after all.

Putting Palin on the ticket has made me lose any chance of liking McCain. He (or his advisers, whoever is running this train wreck) must think that Americans are f*cking retarded. It's simply insulting. The only reason to nominate Palin is to get the women vote, using this logic: Palin is a woman, therefore women will vote for Palin. This is despite the fact that Palin is more anti-women than I am. The saddest part is that it worked to an extent.
