I agree, the opening for Stage 1's arranged music sounds exactly like Easy Lover's opening bit.

Are you sure you don't have it the other way around? DD2 was released in December '89, I'm pretty sure the song came out earlier.
February 29th, 2008
(7)
Yup, Easy Lover was out in '84. SOMEONE OWES PHIL AN APOLOGY.

I like both songs, and I'll give you a 5 for effort, but the way you presented it makes it kind of confusing. I hear similarities, but the tempo is a little different, making it hard for me to find those similarities.

I see you are new to the whole real life song vs video game song thing. Let me explain some basic stuff to you. 1. You can't go by the tempo. Most video games will speed up the tempo or slow it down, depending on what they want to use it for. 2. Older video games had a limit to the number of sounds they could play at once. Listen to the dominant instrument when comparing. 3. If a RL song and a VG song have similarities, 99% of the time the VG stole it.

i 5 the classics as well-- it'd be interesting to see just how much of this 80s sh*t is stolen-- just like sonic loved to steal/work with michael jackson

Phil Collins time travels 5 years into the future to bite a Philip Bailey song he produced 5 years ago? Makes sense.
