1. You can't steal from yourself. 2. Both songs were modified from their original versions. 3. Making fun of a band doesn't make you cool, especially when they make a sh*tload more money than your broke ass.
February 6th, 2008
(1)
Eh, I hate Linkin Park as much as the next guy, but the songs only match up because you made them match up. And it's not exactly breaking news that bands make music that sounds at least a little similar to their other music. Congrats on uncovering such a scandal!

Why does it seem that the internet is against so much of popular music? Sure, you could do better than Linkin Park, but we're only bothered because they're always on the radio and are so popular. Can you imagine how many bands sound like these guys...and didn't get signed? Heck, I bet Linkin Park inspired a few of them themselves.

Some of their songs sound similar. What band doesn't have any songs that sound similar? You could do this for pretty much ANY artist in existence.
February 7th, 2008
(0)
People are missing the point (and the site creator in a way). It's not about stealing it's about applying the same dub formula in every way, and changing the tempo really doesn't mean anything, as obviously you're not gonna have 2 songs of the exact same length, but the concept is that they have to same kind of parts in every single song at proportionally the same time for the same duration.
February 7th, 2008
(0)
I hate it when people say that Linkin Park uses "formulas" to make their songs, like "First you have the one guy singing, and then a guy rapping followed by more singing, and then screaming!" I could pull up a list of any band and go, "Oh, first you have the verse followed by the chorus, and then another verse!"

Not only is it unimpressive in terms of how much it matches (which is not a whole lot), it's also not surprising that an artist might *gasp* have a particular style and so their songs might sound similar.
February 7th, 2008
(-1)
I should post a bit more explanation of what I mean before I get flamed to hell and back. With the Nickelback match up, not only were chord progressions similar, but the beat matched up a whole lot better, as did the lyrics. For instance, you could sing one line of one song, then switch to the other song and sing a line. With this Linkin Park YTMND, the chorus, bridge, and verse all line up, but the pitch is way off (It hurt my brain to listen to this YTMND), and the lyrics don't match up to the point where
February 7th, 2008
(-1)
you can effortlessly switch from one song to another without having to pick up in the middle of a line. That is all.

February 7th, 2008

It doesn't even matter that the pitch/speed has been changed - the chord progressions/structure of the song is EXACTLY the same - I bet you could do this with tons of other combinations of their songs.

August 12th, 2008
(1)
Dude I've known about this... really, they're not a band. Their lead was referred to them by a record executive, and every other album is a remix or a live something or other... and who makes an album live from Texas?
August 13th, 2008
(0)
That's partly true, Chester was mentioned to the band by Warner but he had to go in and audition just like everyone else. The rest of the band all knew each other back from Xero, when Mark Wakefield was still the lead singer. Also, they didn't make a remix album after Minutes To Midnight, although performing collaborations on other artists' albums (Young Buck, Busta Rhymes). There most likely won't be a remix album since they've stated they're gonna start recording the new album after PR 08 of this year.

Artists (Mostly rap artist) rehash or retool beats from previous songs and put new lyrics on them. I noticed you needed to speed up Pushing Me Away, and slow down Numb, just to make them sync properly. Yes, they are very similar almost to the point of being identical, but that doesn't mean you can't make a song sound different by layering old and new beats with new lyrics to make a new sound. While this was pretty perceptive, I don't feel like there's too much to read into here.
August 12th, 2008

August 13th, 2008

if you honestly believe that most music played today is not stolen from you are sadly mistaken. There's something in music called chord progressions. Most songs are made of chord progressions in fours. Therefore, it's really hard these days to make a new and original chord progression that sounds nice. If you don't believe me then listen to these songs and tell me if they don't sound similar: Wonderwall, Mad World, Dream On, Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Also Pachelbel's Canon rant anyone?
August 13th, 2008
(0)
also on that note, the only originality of music today is how the music is done (meaning instruments/solos/timing) not which chords it uses.
August 13th, 2008
