Everything's Changed
These are some of the many victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Most of these pictures were taken about 20 years after the accident, which occurred on Saturday April 26th, 1986. These photos reveal the horrible long-term effects of this event.

Few people realize the horror that nuclear warfare would bring upon the world. The devastation at Hiroshima and the horrors at Chernobyl serve as warnings to all who would dare to spark the flame of nuclear war.

"Just because it was significant doesn't mean it makes for a good YTMND." Thats bullsh*t. There are different uses for this site. Not all YTMND material is geared toward making young white males laugh, dickhead. This type of site is a good wake up call for people who don't know about the dangers of nuclear energy.

It's important to remember things like this happened so we stay motivated to care about not letting it happen again, so remembering things like this DOES have a point. If you helped run a nuclear power plant I think (provided you have a soul) seeing images like that would help you re-double your efforts to make sure something similar doesn't happen to you or the people who live around your plant. Hearing about something is one thing, seeing it is quite another. Remember your history or it will repeat.

That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger. Unless you are human. Then you only stagnate in a genetic cesspool of your own filth as you slowly rot and infect all around you. This is the human condition.

The Chernobyl evacuation caused Eugene Hutz to leave the Ukraine for America, where he would later become a musician and be featured in Filth and Wisdom, a film directed by Madonna, who starred in the movie adaptation of Dick Tracy, alongside child actor Charlie Korsmo, who played Jack Banning in the film Hook. By the transitive property, Hook caused Chernobyl.

Oh, you can say so many things! For example, you can argue about how YTMND is for entertainment only, how to decide what entertainment exactly is, if entertainment has to be original and how entertainment is not related to anything remotely serious at all. If you succeed in doing this, please tell me how and include your answer to the question of life as well.

I went to England a few years ago with a group of students; we were basically filthy American tourists. One day, we got to meet about thirty children from Chernobyl, there for a short period of time just to have fun outside their ravaged city. We played games with them and had a fun day and such. Still, the kids themselves were so horribly depressing. The oldest were fourteen, yet none were over about four feet in height. Many of them had already experienced some awful stuff, including cancer.

Obviously, most of you don't care about this, but for me, it was a touching and disturbing first-hand experience with the people who have to suffer from the effects of this event.

you've got all the fart jokes, game references, racial evil and sex you could ever fill your head with and folks still complain if you change it up for a single instant.

I have nothing but pity for these victims. It sickens me that the suffering of many is tolerated for the luxury of the rest. But this is YTMND, I come here to laugh. This just depressed me...

Very well done exposition on a disturbing and disheartening topic. And the fact that we're using tons of DU in Iraq is almost as bad. I just have to ask, what the f**K are we doing to ourselves? Seriously?

I'm sorry but I have to agree with the other side. This isn't what we want on YTMND. I go to sad.com to be sad.

As freaky as that was, I would like to point out that the reactor in Chernobyl was badly designed. The reactors used in the US could never explode like that; only cause a 3 mile island at worst. Nuclear reactors are not nuclear bombs.
