...mainly because most classic YTMNDs were created before a preloader existed. Preloaders prevent most sound problems in non-IE browsers in classic YTMNDs. The problem with preloaders is that you can't use them with .wav objects yet, so any YTMND that uses a preloader will not have properly looping sound.
I think it's pretty telling that countless "classic" ytmnds are made every day, but get downvoted mercilessly unless they overtly point out their classicness. It's a nice way to get emotionally needy ytmnders to try hard to seem old school or in the know. The classic style had its merits, but ytmnd has definitely evolved for the better since then. The problem is that these days many people want tight graphics and hip remixes with the bipping and the bopping. Therefore, when a classic site shows up, they downvote it as soon as possible, convinced that no animation means lack of effort, and continue to 5 telemarketing calls and rips from Youtube and the Family Guy.
somewhat disagree. classic YTMNDs are funnier when you're laughing at something ridiculous that is funnier in isolation. this just reminds me of how much I enjoyed The Big Lebowski. I don't think you really comprehend what's proper in a classic YTMND, though. The last funny classic YTMND I saw was http://twokindsofpeople.ytmnd.com/.
