I understand the idea behind YTMNDQATSI and it's a clever way to point out the downfall of quality in YTMND sites... But honestly speaking, does pointing out the obvious make things better? Don't take this the wrong way because it's not intended to be nasty, but if you want more quality to return to YTMND, try thinking of more creative ideas for quality pages. You weren't made pink for just the hell of it afterall. X_X
"the downfall of quality in YTMND sites". God, I wish people would quit complaining about "the downfall". If you want nutnics to make sites faster then pay him, otherwise there are plenty of quality sites, but they may not be to your "omg this isn't exactly like a MasterSitsu site" likings. However, if you don't like what's here, leave or do something about it other than just form knitting circles to bitch about it.
The quality of sites has improved in the long run, just look at the content from back in 2004. Of course, some people would say that these simpler times were the "Golden Age". Perhaps so...I would chalk that up to nostalgia myself. The real problem is a gradual exodus of viewers away from ytmnd for whatever reasons. I would guess the main causes of this are the new layout, frustration with downvoters/alts, and the novelty of ytmnd wearing out. Less people here means less new sites created.
Regulars are less motivated to create new content because of that they perceive as a lull in activity, further perpetuating this "downfall". In my opinion, there are too many sites about ytmnd now...this site would be an example. How much would a new user get out of viewing these sites? Not much. Also, people refuse to let old fads die. Some people seem to be stuck in some kind of time warp where they think Khan, Peppers, etc are somehow ingrained into YTMND, leaving this website little room for growth
Time lapse photography is not "forwarded" and nothing Koyaanisqatsi is "badly shot." The cinematography from that movie is still influencing film today and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The movie is iconic and if anything didn't last long enough. I am interested to know what points from Koyaanisqatsi are "moronic."
Koyaanisqatsi sucks. It's nothing but a leftist, eco-hippie movie against human advancement, and sadly it is 'required viewing' by every film instructor in the country. This movie, although shot well, lacks any real plot other than "people are bad and nature is good". Philip Glass' music is physically painful to listen to due to its repetitiveness, worse than techno even. Time-lapse sequences work in moderation, but 87 minutes of it? Come on. This movie is the film equivalent of waterboarding.
