want to get this at the top... a few corrections. The Railgun was in Quake _2_, and probably in more before that (some Doom DeHackED patches have one). The Heavy in TFC was obviously taken from the heavy in the original Team Fortress (the Quake 1 mod), and Miniguns have been in use in FPS since the beginning (Wolf3D). iD wins.
Back in the day of Quake 1 me and a friend from highschool pumped out tons of mods just for fun. One of them was Grenade Quake, which added like 20 kinds of grenades. We had the boring old proximity grenade that stuck to walls and exploded when you got near it. We had the dog grenade that shot a dog out and it flipped and span all around like a grenade did, then when it landed it ran at somebody then exploded. We had the teleport grenade that was like the proximity grenade but when it exploded it
would teleport you to a random part of the map. We had the gravity grenade that sucked everything towards it in at high speeds for 5 seconds then exploded. Then we had the MIRV grenade that, when it exploded, would turn into 8 more grenades that would bounce twice then explode themselves. We also had the force grenade that repelled everything that got close to it and you couldn't shoot past. Looks like they aren't very original ideas after all?
Seriously, this is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen, and I'm not even trying to defend halo here. Practically everything in fps games nowadays has been done before. I mean, you could name plenty of things in Resistence that already occured in previous halo games, let alone other fps's. This is just a f*cking "simpons did it " scenario, but I'll give you a 3 for giving max 5 bucks...
WOW. so your saying that halo 3 has no class for having a mini gun, a rocket launcher, jump pads, a a instant kill laser? If all fps's hadnt copied off each other in some way or fashion, the genre would of stopped at the original doom. Guess what, ut2004 also has a mini-gun. 50000 games have rocket launchers, a lot of games have jump pads, and a lot of games have weapons that kill either instant hit or instant hit with a headshot.

Instead of enjoying there toys, the fanboys must insult, criticize, and verbally assault other toys and their owners. I appreciate the fact that you want to garner support for the PS3 by praising the only good game for it and making a great game for the X-Box look bad, but don't expect to convert people, and don't expect a good product to succeed with Sony's current business practices.
This is just retarded all around. Everyone else already explained why. So, I'm just going to say: 1.) Learn how to use keywords properly. You'll look like less of an ass. 2.) This has nothing to do with the other "no class" sites and your naming it as such is misleading, and lame. 3.) What's with the white background behind your black image? Ugly.
Wait, wasn't that shield grenade in a much much earlier E3 preview? Just checking :)
Oh and "Shield-like Healthbar that slowly recharges" has been copied by just about every FPS imaginable - Including Resistance.
All the games follow the same fundamentals, I'm not going to accuse Halo 3 of being a ripoff just yet thanks.
You know what else? The frag grenades are copied off of REAL LIFE GRENADES!!! The SMG is copied of of REAL LIFE SMGS!!! The Human ground vehicles are copied off of REAL LIFE VEHICLES!!! The snow is copied off of REAL LIFE SNOW!!! The dirt is copied off of the REAL LIFE DIRT!!! The nitrogen molecules in the air are copied off of REAL LIFE NITROGEN MOLECULES!!! ... Dude, almost EVERYTHING in video games are copied. And it may just be a joke, but some people just don't get it!
Team Fortress inspired many styles of modern team combat modes. Half-Life 1 REVIVED the First-Person Shooter genre. Half-Life 2 is the standard for which all FPS's are judged. Ratchet & Clank UYA has the most diverse range of weapons out of any game with guns (Not counting Coded Arms, which is a pile of sh*t).

railgun can't shoot through walls.
its just the ORIGINAL Railgun (quake 2) fired a beam that looks EXACTLY like the spartan laser, and the railgun hasn't changed since it was created (go look at quake 3 and 4 and tell me differences in the railgun besides the model)
now other games have weapons called the Railgun, but they aren't the REAL railgun.

It's also sad that you claim the rocket launcher, grav lifts, and other such things can only be used in one game.
HALO 2 HAD GRAV LIFTS. Man Cannon is just a grav lift of steriods. And the launch pads on Quake where used to just give you to a higher ledge. Man Cannon gets you 1/2 way accross the map.

the innovation isn't in the weapons or the methods of attack, but rather the massive environments and amazing character design and story development. I could make a ytmnd about how all those games halo supposedly copied, copied off of OTHER games, but most people hold such knowledges at common sense.
Wow, so you are saying that the bungie team specifically went back to TEAM FORTRESS CLASSIC and said "Oh man A MINIGUN would be awesome to have in halo 3!" Also, how much do you think games have copied from MARATHON? That was made by bungie, just after the release of DOOM. Get your facts straight man. And besides all of the things in halo 3 are just variants and re-creations of weapons that they had already invented in the last two games. Sorry, this site = fail, and I don't even adore halo that much.
Everyone copies real world weapons. Pistols, Rocket launchers, Sniper rifles, and the lot are all quite popular, which is why they are still being put into games. But as far as futuristic/fantasy/sci-fi weapons, there is truly no limit to what can be created. We are no longer limited by 2d sprites, physics, or 16mb system memory. I bet everyone who surfs YTMND could come up with 10 weapons each and they wouldn't be similar. Cry all you want guys, but the truth remains. Developer laziness isn't our friend
