8.4GB...wow. I could fit approximately 1/100th of my video collection on that drive. Just need one hundred more. What's that? No expansion ports? f***.
May 14th, 2007
(0)
my first computer had a 64 MB hard drive... I could fit approximately nothing on it
May 14th, 2007
(-1)
My first computer was a calculator and had a 10 inch solar panel and 10 number buttons, + and - buttons, and .01 KB of memory (numbers aren't that big)
May 14th, 2007
(0)
64 Mb! I'm sure it can run BF2142 cause it's never obsolete.
May 14th, 2007

May 14th, 2007
(1)
I don't know, I got a P2 400 MHz from Micron in fall '98, and 450 MHz was the top of the line. Wouldn't this machine come out Q1 '99 or so?

1995
(3)
Yes, this is 1999--500mhz was absolutely top of the line at the time.
May 14th, 2007
(0)
Things were moving fast at that time...450 was top end 4Q 98 but by may it was 550. Late 99 I had bought a 733.

Enh. Don't care unless you can get a close-up of what it says on the "NEVER OBSOLETE" sticker. I want to know their reasoning.
(3)
I think it was something about their upgrade plan.
May 14th, 2007
(4)
The sticker reads (to the best of my ability), "This computer is NEVER OBSOLETE when you join eMachines network. Fast, reliable internet access powered by MCI/QDNET(?). The world's richest internet content provided by Netscape. Surf! Email! Invest(?)! Shop! Chat! Travel(?)! And more! Plus, upgrade your PC to the fastest model on the market every 2 years for only $99(?)!" eMachines FTW.
May 14th, 2007
(0)
Yeah, the sticker's some blurb about how eMachine will upgrade your sh*t to a "top of the line" model every 2 years for $100. Obviously the guy didn't take them up. Doom 2 in style, baby.
May 15th, 2007
(0)
Yup, I had a i667 POS that had a similar upgrade sticker... Bet i still have that clunker kicking around somewhere. Hey Max, ever think about googl-itizing your servers to run a cluster? I've got 667mhz of fury and 128MB of rage just waiting to be set loose!
May 14th, 2007
(2)
Fast, relable internet accessed powered by MCI/UUNET™ The world's richest Internet content provided by Netscape. Surf! Email! Invest! Shop! Chat! Travel! and more Plus, upgrade your PC to the last model on the market every 2 years for only £99!
May 14th, 2007

http://rubbermallet.org/neverobsolete.jpg - Was a promotion they ran, $99 every 2 years and you get upgrades. Woot!
