This is a political site pointing out the hypocrisy of our culture, more than 200 people were murdered in Iraq on the day that 32 were shot in Virginia. The difference is that the people in Iraq don't matter to US Americans.

Although each person shot and executed in a very brutal, personal manner, if you weigh death for death, the iraqies should have the spotlight. Yet, the media has already had its field day with iraqi car bombs. They have sucked that well dry. i am 100 percent sure that the news will be our civilizations downfall. go read about how they specifically blacklist certain news topics for the week, just to see peoples reactions to the missing news. they control the planet, they control wars, they control people.
Its not matter of race or any sh*t like that.
Iraq is a warzone "practically" right now so sh*t like that is expected, and its overseas.
The Virginia Massacre hit home so its obviously gonna get major media attention.
Lets not forget, it was the worst domestic massacre in US history.
But yeah the media is gay none the less.
There's a difference between our own young citizens being slaughtered on our own soil vs foreigners in a far off land. There are our soldiers too, and it's awful to hear about losing some of them, but people know that soldiers may die in their line of work.
Just saying it's not "brown people" so much. I'm sure there were "brown people" among the 32 killed.
Anyone, and I mean anyone, who gives a sh*t about the mainstream media is a f*cktard. Maybe not a COMPLETE f*cktard, but if you haven't caught on to their game by now you are dense. They make money from scaring, shocking, and occaisionally reasuring you. They are not in it for the news, they are in it for money and only money. There may be a few who work in the news who convince themselves that isn't all there is to it, and they are lying to themselves.
I don't really see how this is hypocritical. I never claimed to give a sh*t about the iraqis. I care much more about Americans dying, because I am an American. What bothers me about Iraq has much more to do with how it affects America and its standing in the world, and less about its citizens. You can call certain people hypocrites like George Bush or any of the Politicians running who claim to care about the Iraqi people, but to say US culture is hypocritical when it is a composition of millions of
right, and for any given one person what I am saying is not going to be true, but I still think it works as a broad generalization of our attitude apathy about the massive amount of people that are killed overseas compared to the outrage we feel when its on our soil-- or even in the correct neighborhood
George Carlin made a comment on this about 15 years ago. If there's an earthquake in Pakistan, people are like "F*ck Pakistan! Too far away to be any fun". But if something happens near you, people are like "Holy sh*t! Let's go look at the bodies". Besides Iraqis die by the hundreds every day. It is a rare occurrence for 32 people to get killed in the same town in America.
people dieing due to bombs in iraq is a sadly pretty normal, people dieing during a classroom lecture not so much. of course its going to make the front page of the news.. its a very abnormal event. You think just because this made front page and the Iraqi deaths didn't that people don't care about the lives lost there either? if you wanna preach your anti-media anti-US political message do it somewhere other than YTMND I come here to laugh and get away from people like you.
your interest serves in making sure "brown people" get news credit when they are killed. whats the difference? do you think its bad a blue angel lost his life today flying and got front page, because thats only 1 US death and not 100 Iraqi deaths? you're the hypocritical one. you think just because your interest isn't getting top page that everyone else is to blame.
By the way, I have to work HARD to pay for my house and my car. My parents aren't paying it for me. I paid for the laptop I'm typing this on, I pay for my rent and my utilities while I'm in school. I'm graduating in a few weeks with a masters in computer science and have to pay loans when I do--yet for some reason you think you have the right to question what you think I worry about as if I'm some selfish person? Go cry more about not getting the story you want on the first page or start your own.
capitalistic diversions... ok then sir, do you plan on getting a job? do you plan on supporting a family? are you going to get an education as a means of bettering yourself? you succumb to capitalism just as much as the next guy. being greedy/selfish/worrying about my own luxuries in life is *exactly* what you said to me. capitalistic diversions are what is allowing you to post your lame ytmnd in the comfort of your own home. im done with you, as you're currently a lost cause and need to grow up.
it's unfortunate for those college students/faculty members to be caught up in such a horrific event, but 183 deaths in Iraq and that's pushed back? Yeesh...Keith Olbermann was right to ask why flags in this country aren't at permanent half-staff in regards to the Iraq War...keep in Mind that Gonzo's grilling was postponed because of the shooting incident, and as stated, flags were at half-staff....it's as if we've become emotionally distant from the Iraq War.
Maybe the reason why seem to care more about the people who died at Virginia Tech is because we feel that maybe in this circumstance we could have done something about it. We have little to no control of the events that happen in other countries but at least in the United States we can vote and possible stop this from happening again. Exactly what policies would stop it from happening again I have no clue, but the point is that maybe something would and this something we could do something about. : )
