NES of a Down
Created on: April 18th, 2007
I make a lot of 8-bit versions of songs, and I decided to make a small animation for this one. edit: I doubled the file size and made it smoother

I don't really feel the need to judge this YTMND by my musical tastes. I also don't think that the most complex YTMNDs are always the best. This site just strikes me as an idea designed to pun the "S" in "NES" with the name of a band. Simple concept. Simple animation. Perhaps not the P/S/T that the Dew Army advocates, but what fundamentalist ever said that YTMND can't grow beyond its original conception?

I don't understand why BTape thinks every site MUST be something funny, otherwise he considers it an illegitimate ytmnd. Some ytmnds have been educational and popular, like the size of our worlds or the unfunny truth about scientology. The 'relax' ytmnds were so popular they were a fad for awhile, and there's been plenty of ytmnds that were just cool to watch/hear but weren't really funny, this one for example. Pretty foolish preconceived notion of a ytmnd that they are and can only be just jokes.
They don't all have to be funny, but what else is going on with this aside from basic 3d work and a stupid play on words? "System" is at the beginning of the band name and the end of the console name wow that's awesome.
That this is so high rated is beyond baffling.
NASA Astrophysics System of a Down lololol gimme a 5.
It is all about the unatural 'camera angles' and camera movement between crowd and stage. Reminiscent of the early hollywood musical (bugsby berkley choreography etc.) because of its success integrating the viewer inside the film with unatural camera movement. While it doesn't function the same way, it does function as an homage to the genre and the techniques that made it successful. I like the step of taking a ytmnd and applying functional film theory (even if it was unintentional).
