In typography you must have two seperate symbols to correctly portray differnet letters. Since the 'l' is not properly implied then it is, in fact, not officially there. Also hi there Spotz! :ferret:

Kyle, what we have here is a ligature for gl. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, which celebrates happy unions, you make a happy union of letters if letters are what you have to work with. The stem is the l, obviously.
