Interesting. Midgley invented horrible things - he worked for GM and had the oil companies start putting tetraethyl lead in gasoline to reduce engine knock - workers at refineries went insane with lead poisoning and it's still contaminating our environment years after "Regular" gas came out of use. The whole time, he insisted it was safe. To top it off, he went on to invent chloroflurocarbons, 10,000x more destructive to ozone than CO2, and used in thousands of products up til the 80s.
