"Gore had his chance, he's old hat now" - Gore had his chance, and he won the popular vote, and he's a much better candidate now than in 2000 having to explain for Clintons negatives and pretend to be something he's not. He's like Nixon '68 vs. '60. regardless, your site description cost you a 5 star vote, and yes for politics in this case. a bad political joke (espec. considering Bush has now spent more than even Kucinich could ever dream of for the next generations to pay) ruins a rare good one on YTMND
"Oh, and an increase in minimum wage. Which means fewer jobs, costlier
goods, and- More taxes." - if the average wage had raised in ratio with what the CEO's of companies make, the US minimum wage would currently be 16 dollars per hour. the average CEO makes 300-500 times what their workers make, which is way out of proportion from the rest of the world. also, if you actually look at states that have raised minimum wage, you'd see they actually made more jobs. the 'bad for the economy' line has no merit. It puts money back in peoples pockets and its proven the spend it. Inflation goes up anyways and what happens when the people don’t have the money to buy the goods? A snowball effect where products are made and noone can afford him. Society crumbles. The end.
dont get me wrong, capitalism is the best system there is of all the choices there are. however libertarians make the mistake of believing that corporations would regulate themselves without massive corruption that would essentially try to enslave the middle class. i'm not saying the government is all that trustworthy either, however you can vote in different governments, whereas you have no democratic say in what corporations do other than your dollar, And I hope constant mergers, buyouts, monopolies, outsourcing etc would teach people they don’t really (nor do they have to) care about your best interest, and would work to lower the impact of that option. They're only responsible to their shareholders.
Republicans are stoopid LOLOLOLZ. Jk, although Dems ftw. However, I would sooner support McCain than Hillary (ew). Socialism is best I believe, as long as your government is somewhat pure. Businesses are just too greedy to control the economy. They are interested in what is good for business now, and what is good for THEIR business and f*ck the people and the future. Laissez Faire ftl.
5 because he looks funny, im from UK so i dont really know anything about US government but u guys do get angry as sh*t at eachother for it. that goes the same with (football is better than rugby, soccer is boring, etc.) I dont like our leaders in the commons either. But i think america should get a rule in where u can just boot the leader out whenever u want and hold a vote for a new one.
i think McCain is a decent person, and by republican standards would be a good leader, however to get there its depressing to watch him sacrifice the 'maverick'ness by sucking up to jerry falwell, already flip flopping like crazy and otherwise doing everything he can to strengthen a base. in other words, he's becoming as fake as hillary is now. federal politics turns otherwise decent people into well, to quote Bill Hicks, liars and murderers. if Obama were elected (and hey i think he's likeable too) Eventually he'd have blood on his hands too. Maybe people like this are better off as mayors instead of ruining their lives in the big game. Or in Baracks' case, potentially assassinated? Does this seem possible to anyone else?
Well, as it was put in a conversation between a friend of mine and I:
Obama won't get elected 'cause he's black.
So?
There's just enough racists to keep him out of office.
But black people will vote for him.
Find me a black person who doesn't already vote democrat.
I bet I can find you a lot of black people that don't vote at all.
So, maybe he can bring out a lot of people that haven't voted in the past.
I would have 3'd it, but the addition of "the next generation will pay for it" clinched the 5, because Obama is a douchebag. LOST is a student project. The aim of LOST is to show how 7 million people connect to one
another, and break the record for the game with the most players ever!

"But black people will vote for him. Find me a black person who doesn't already vote democrat" - while the latter statement is generally true, i dont know if Barack would really bring out that many new voters based only on his race. there are already many who point out he didnt rise out of the streets, MLK i have a dream style. he's half black and from east Africa. its not the same story that some people want to hear. i personally dont give a sh*t - i'm just saying that opinion is out there, and i dont Know how much sway it has.
not really sure where i stand on this issue. i consider myself a libertarian... you should be allowed to do ANYTHING as long as it doesnt affect someone else negatively. as far as the economy goes, for a long time i've been very right wing, monetarist etc. though now im questioning my faith in corporations regulating themselves, because the corporation as an entity and a person has no social conscious or public interest, other than what makes them money. though i have i zero faith in govt too..so i dunno
as far as obama... seems very inspiring, and it would be a step in the right direction for the US to actually elect a non WASP as president. and yes, you guys would get to come to all the UN parties because of it lol. im not american, im from canada where we have our own issues haha... but ive heard nothing but good things about obama. maybe he, or any other leader than bush can take the US out of the spiraling fall its been put in, and give it the respect and power it once had.
Currently, there aren't any candidates in this race that strongly appeal to my truly conservative beliefs (truly conservative meaning fiscally responsible, limited government, not allowing immigrants to waltz into the country, someone who's strong on defense and not afraid to use the military, stronger on a free economy, against welfare handouts, etc.) The closest right now is McCain, but he's all over the map on a variety of social issues that I personally disagree with. Great site and discussion, btw!
My YTMND was far more about a random TV personality bobbing his head around to a Weird Al song in a manner that resembled an older YTMND that I thought was clever many months ago. There was exponentially more politics in the discussion about the YTMND than in the YTMND itself. Besides, if politics + YTMND = 1 star, might wanna tell that to Max, because as I type this there are John McCain ads all over this site profile page...
I should have made this comment long, long ago... but to those of you that have/had problems with the tone of the site description because of the cost of the Iraq war etc: Two wrongs don't make a right. What are you really trying to say? "Well, well, well THEY spent a ton of money, too!" Attempting to find out who can financially destroy the United States the fastest--as if it's a pissing contest--isn't the proper role of our elected "leaders"...
