Remember your fundamentals

Why does your ytmnd suck? Probably because you didn't follow THE ABSOLUTE MOST BASIC RULES OF MAKING A YTMND.

It's okay to have some of the short films and "advanced" or "evolved" YTMNDs we see out there. I've been a viewer forever, only made a few mediocre YTMNDs, and didn't ever bother to vote until a couple months ago. But, while i think it's good to evolve, it's also good to remember YTMNDs roots, and keep a few of the classic PST format YTMNDs around.
The message you're intending isn't how most people interpret this (Picture = still image to most users).
Who cares what the site is as long as it's enjoyable, this just makes me want to kill every f*cking nerd who used this site as downvote spam.
I must add though that I am yet to find a YTMND I have given above 1/5. It really is an awful site.
I agree with the fundamental principle, and also with the sentiment that the simple original format shows one's true creativity- working within strict limits makes it much more difficult to produce something worthwhile. But, unfortunately, this YTMND has inspired a sheep-like pubescent drone of "NOTAf*gGYSHORTFILMLOL".
This site shouldn't necessarily be followed for making ytmnd's, but definitely for voting for ytmnd's. Many people will downvote anything that's not animated these days. I see sites trying to model after the original "You're the man now dog" site with a simple movie or tv quote and a picture, and they get shot to hell because it's not animated. Give 'em a chance!
Not necessarily any site with animation, but one that focuses on an event or progression of events. A site that you have to sit through and digest in a linear way to get what it's doing. A non-FSF site expresses itself instantaneously. http://apebusiness.ytmnd.com/ is not an FSF. http://updownleftrightholdapushstart.ytmnd.com/ is. Hope that helps.
Time has changed...classic-styled ytmnds were popular back then...stapler, picard, noooo, but they often got repetative. Once MasterSitsu, syncan, State-of-mind, smoothmedia, and many others came, the "short f*ggy film" and "slideshow" became popular...still, it doesn't mean classic ytmnds suck...see pizzatheft.ytmnd.com for one of greatest ones.
i cant read minds but i'm sure that ink thinks that a bad FSF is far worse than a bad PST. he knows the site, he knows the users. 99% of the users suck at making YTMNDs (including yours truly) so if they're going to make sh*tty YTMNDS, at least make them succinct and to the point. a singular focus. and just like FSF can have multiple meanings, so can PST. focus on the "singular focus" part of this ytmnd.
