Remember your fundamentals
Why does your ytmnd suck? Probably because you didn't follow THE ABSOLUTE MOST BASIC RULES OF MAKING A YTMND.

Sadly, with syncan's scripts the Fundamentals are on their way out. Let us pay one final tribute to the PST format before it vanishes completely.

Unarguably one of the greatest YTMND's ever made - becoming more relevant every day with the advent of flash bullsh*t/animated bullsh*t.

Well, I'll take a minute to admit that I've actually even seen a couple good flash/sync sites lately. I still consider PST to be a hard and fast rule just because the people clever enough to be creative with it are too few in number.

As someone said on another profile page, the beauty of ytmnd was always that anyone could "be the man now dog" if they came up with a funny idea, and hardly any technical know-how was necessary. With the advent of FSF, PST sites are less profitable and th

It's okay to have some of the short films and "advanced" or "evolved" YTMNDs we see out there. I've been a viewer forever, only made a few mediocre YTMNDs, and didn't ever bother to vote until a couple months ago. But, while i think it's good to evolve, it's also good to remember YTMNDs roots, and keep a few of the classic PST format YTMNDs around.

The message you're intending isn't how most people interpret this (Picture = still image to most users). Who cares what the site is as long as it's enjoyable, this just makes me want to kill every f*cking nerd who used this site as downvote spam. I must add though that I am yet to find a YTMND I have given above 1/5. It really is an awful site.
(0)
I agree with the fundamental principle, and also with the sentiment that the simple original format shows one's true creativity- working within strict limits makes it much more difficult to produce something worthwhile. But, unfortunately, this YTMND has inspired a sheep-like pubescent drone of "NOTAf*gGYSHORTFILMLOL".
July 6th, 2006
(0)
Yeah - I'd rather people thought for themselves than had slavish, cultlike adherence to others' ideas. But if they're going to be sheep, at least I've provided an alternative to the one-world ovinocracy.

This site shouldn't necessarily be followed for making ytmnd's, but definitely for voting for ytmnd's. Many people will downvote anything that's not animated these days. I see sites trying to model after the original "You're the man now dog" site with a simple movie or tv quote and a picture, and they get shot to hell because it's not animated. Give 'em a chance!

Not necessarily any site with animation, but one that focuses on an event or progression of events. A site that you have to sit through and digest in a linear way to get what it's doing. A non-FSF site expresses itself instantaneously. http://apebusiness.ytmnd.com/ is not an FSF. http://updownleftrightholdapushstart.ytmnd.com/ is. Hope that helps.

Time has changed...classic-styled ytmnds were popular back then...stapler, picard, noooo, but they often got repetative. Once MasterSitsu, syncan, State-of-mind, smoothmedia, and many others came, the "short f*ggy film" and "slideshow" became popular...still, it doesn't mean classic ytmnds suck...see pizzatheft.ytmnd.com for one of greatest ones.

Some of my favorite sites are short films, and you've made one yourself.

I miss Inkdrinker being famous, this Dr. L33T profile is getting way too much attention, and for doing way to little. Inkdrinker at least tried to make this place better.

dr 1337 is a sociopath with the mind of a 16 year old boy. Atleast inkdrinker had some talent unlike that ass-clown.

For the record, inkdrinker, I still think you're a sexy beast even though I've gotten bored with all the f*ggotry related to this site and ALOL

You gotta be kidding me Inkdrinker, Dr-L337 is probably the worst thing that happened to YTMND. Hes just a fad about himself.

PST sites are not funny by any means. How anyone could think that they are any better that straight movie rips (which i don't particularly like) is beyond me.

I insta-5 any funny site that adheres to your dogma and leave the URL to this as a comment. Any YTMND user worth his salt should have at least one pic/sound/text site...

Dammit inkdrinker, I wanted to 5 this but you forgot the fundamentals of citing your sources.

You retard. This predates citation blanks. And it's pretty goddamned obvious that this wasn't lifted from Family Guy. Use your head.

Ok, since you have an explanation for the sources, I'll up your score. Dunno what the hell the Family Guy tirade is about, though.

It wasn't long ago that sh*tbags would steal a clip from Family Guy, upload it unchanged and get 5s for it. This site is dead.

I am completely neutral towards the subject. The old-school YTMND's are awesome, but so are the "f*ggy short films", but it's a pretty good site I guess.

i cant read minds but i'm sure that ink thinks that a bad FSF is far worse than a bad PST. he knows the site, he knows the users. 99% of the users suck at making YTMNDs (including yours truly) so if they're going to make sh*tty YTMNDS, at least make them succinct and to the point. a singular focus. and just like FSF can have multiple meanings, so can PST. focus on the "singular focus" part of this ytmnd.

It's sad that the fundamentals have been lost on this new batch of YTMND. Fundamentals are the only thing I've got, and that's not going to get me to the top in these days.

inkdrinker speaks and everyone should listen and obey. the funny of today has nothing on the funny from 4 years ago. f*ck your obama sites, no one gives a sh*t. And for f*cks sake stop trying too hard in your ytmnd's people.

Remember when this site wasn't just Youtube for lazy hacks who don't have the talent to make anything funnier than an unfunny twenty second gif and an unfunny, poorly edited mp3 they threw together in Audacity? I do.

RIP YTMND. RIP Inkdrinker. There's no country for old YTMNDers.
