yeah it's mostly a depression + neglect + emotional imbalance thing...years from now they'll find out that it was a desease like bipolarism or ADHD and then think what kind of asses we'll be! but yeah some of the emos are gay and they just use Emo as a way to fit in.....very, very sad, but if that's what gets them through their teens, then i guess there's a lot worse you could do.
