I made this after approximately 17 or so hours of sleep since Sunday night. That's a bit more than 4 hours per night. (Colbert was right, the Wii is dangerous) Now, after making this site, I won't get much sleep tonight too. Thanks, YTMND.

I don't think anything fair could be done. I actually only contributed to the problem by linking that ytmnd on my site earlier today (me being the webmaster). Considering it gets about 80 or so 'registered forum users' a day, and it probably gets at least 200 unique page views a day. Should I remove it? X_X
I don't understand how Telemarketer is necessarily bad for YTMND. Yeah, it's not the best site, in terms of "the spirit of YTMND," but if it brings in new viewers, that means more ad revenue. More ad revenue means continued hosting of the thousands of sub-par sites that get posted to ytmnd every day. If you really want to solve the problem, stop posting awful sites to ytmnd, and the need for sites like this one generating the cash will evaporate.

Im surprised you put my comment in there. I would like to know what Max thinks about this. The Telemarketer site is getting way out of hand. I suspect some serious hotlinking and viewhacking is at hand with that site, because it's linked over 20,000 sites and getting 100,000 views a day, you can't help but think that the site is corrupted somehow and someway.

Wow a f*ggy documentary about something I already know and care absolutely nothing about. Why would max stop it? Everyone who isn't logged in gets ads up the wazoo- that means revenue. All the sheep that are viewing this are getting ads and making max money. Why the hell would you kill the goose that's laying golden eggs? It's like one giant billboard. Hell, he might as well just make it so that this site shows a bunch more ads than the others. I also have a feeling that Sphonix didn't submit this anywhere.
I dislike the telemarketer page only because it's obvious that it is either staged or the telemarketer is even more retarded than the normal one. Noone would buy that prank of any remote common sense. To see Blue Ball Machine and all that YTMND is about axed by it, is really pretty damn sad.
That said, like you said, nothing can be done. Banning the guy would not be fair at all, esp. since TBH I doubt the creator really MEANT to do any of this. It just got linked a bunch. This is purely a web meme.

i don't like it, it wasn't all that funny to begin with, doesn't belong on ytmnd as far as im concerned, it belongs on a site like ebaums where they post other people's jokes in a place for everyone to see (not a bash on ebaum, just stating what that site is). Ytmnd is supposed to be/used to be a site to make parodies of things like movies or internet fads that are creative, not stupid cartoons or radio show audio like this one. YTMND supports itself fine without people coming to see one site
Here's an idea: make a bunch of duplicates of "how to prank a telemarketer." The original is less likely to garner hits if there are several duplicates with the same name, content, and keywords. You could even title one duplicate "how to prank a telemarketer, part 1" causing casual viewers to think they should view that one first, and therefore less likely to click on the original. YTMNDers could rally together and upvoite the dupes to get more exposure for them as well.
Anyone NOT logged into YTMND clicking the link view an ad... then it re-directs after 5 seconds to the site. I don't hate it for getting a crazy amount of hits, I found YTMND after being linked to the emo song. It does help the site in getting more members, recognition, etc... maybe YTMND'll get bigger than eBaumsworld because of this! Then YTMND will rule teh internets, and also c*cks.
Increase the frame rate. And though I found the call to be funny the first time, it was just not a ytmnd. If it just showed a picture of a telemarketer or a fake crime scene along with funny text, then yeah, it would be a true ytmnd, but it's just a hosting of a call with a transcript. This is not a ytmnd.
I've watched How To Prank a Telemarketer for the first time around a month ago. It wasn't even the slightest bit funny at all. Also, 20,000 page links!? This YTMND is like a disease that you cannot see, cannot hear, but you can feel it's impact. This doesnt deserve to surpass Blue Ball Machine in any way possible. Fived, for great justice!
Also, let's look at the other Top Viewed ytmnds. Blue Ball Gif, guess what...STOLEN from SomethingAwful. Picard song STOLEN from DarkMateria. Emo Song STOLEN. All these users benefitted from someone else's oustanding work. All the blue ball gif guy did was add obvious music from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Gee. All Sh*tty McSh*tt did was make a loop and add a pic of Picard. So lets not pretend that any of these other sites are any more worthwhile.
Oh noes! Not views! Heavens be! His site must be better than Blue Ball Machine because more people have looked at it. Let us all make the most of our remaining time. Judgement day is surely December 21, 2006.
Or, just pat him on the back for successfully Googlebombing his way into YTMND infamy, and acknowledge that Blue Ball Machine, along with countless other YTMNDs that get less views than his, are all superior anyway.
All those who have down voted this site do not understand the foundations of ytmnd, original content. This ytmnd that has reached an unspeakable high number of views is a mere exerpt from a show, where as the blue ball machine was made. I think the blue ball machine presents a huge milestone in YTMND history, it should be remembered and should stay at the top of the list, a YTMND getting views through other websites linking it IMO is not as good as getting views through visiting ytmnd. I 5'd for truth....
there is nothing inevitable here, although max cannot delete the site fairly because it is gaining its views legally, the author of "How to Prank a Telemarketer" could just delete the site. its his site and he can do whatever he wants with it. if we were to all kindly PM Shponix and ask him to kill the monster he has created, maybe he will do it. it would be in his best interest to do so before he becomes the most hated user onYTMND.
First of all, you mentioned that there have been people that complained. But what about the people who've praised it? liked it or say, fav'd it (after all, it has over a thousand of those). Second of all, if a YTMND of someone taking sound from somewhere else beats the ytmnd's that are : images from elsewhere, sounds from elsewhere - then thats fine. The only one in the top 5 that was really created was the emo song. 1'd, go outside
