The thing that gets me wondering is the 10/10 Tilt score with the 8/10 gameplay score. Isn't gameplay like the MOST IMPORTANT factor in deciding the tilt? Let's face it, the Gamespot guys were going to give it even lower marks but decided they would look like dumbasses if they did so they gave a 10/10 tilt.
It's Gamef*gs. You're surprised? I got flaming emails from Final Fantasy hippies when I put up a review of Final Fantasy X, giving it a 6/10 on a system where "5" is average, and people were getting flamed left and right for not giving Halo 2 a 9 or 10 out of 10.
I'd rather trust reviews from several different sites/magazines instead of just one. You never know if someone is a fanboy or a super-critic.
you guys are idiots. any site that rates a game 10 is sucking the developers c*ck, no game is perfect. i can play ANY game and pick out flaws that could be improved, as its the nature of the video game industry, keep getting better - it'll never be perfect. 8.8 is a great score for a game with no real new concepts. (note the tilt was 10, so they rated the experience of playing a 10... it just fell short on a few technical aspects)
