The pain of creative stagnation has plagued artists for centuries. I've felt frustration with the lack of originality on YTMND recently (as demonstrated by my most recent (and ruthlessly downvoted) site. Ironically enough, I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't the first person to do that kinda site either). However, that's merely a microcosm for the grander scheme of things in terms of any art in general. Most movies nowadays are either deliberate remakes, or recycled hybrids of existing movies/plots/etc.
It's not right, and it's not fair, but that's the way it is. However, that being said, every once and a while someone comes out with something truly innovative and well-executed, and blows us all away. But when we get right down to it, the only reason we say everything's been done before is only because someone hasn't done something new -yet-. True creative work is the goal towards which all true artists aspire. It just becomes more difficult to achieve as more and more things are created.
