division is not an action; it is invoking a point (a,b,c) in a RxRxR number space such that c=a/b. for a given function, these points either "exist" or "don't exist". the points (*,0,*) all don't exist. Just like the point (2,1,5) doesn't exist because 5 does not equal 2/1. the point (2,1,2) exists, because 2=2/1.
