If there were no God, atheism wouldn't exist. You can't prove anything, and you can't disprove anything.

Just like what XJudgmentX says "Atheism *FOR THE WIN*. Also Tricolor, without a god, no one would believe in it and therefore, all would be atheist."

Wasn't trying to prove or disprove anything, I just found some interesting quotes and wanted to share. :) It seems like your rating based on your views of religion rather than if you liked the YTMND...

So you like quoting Einstein, do you? Me too! "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

Aye, great YTMND. You know, maybe we're as bad as christians in broadcasting out beliefs, but atleast we're content to believe what we believe and don't try to convert other people.

To xJudgment: To exist is to not exist. No one can prove anything. To say there is no god implies that there is a possibility. And to say that there is a god implies that there is doubt in that, too. It's so complicated, yet so simple. It's silly when people try to go one way or the other, I find. I mean, we all do it, but I think we should realize how extreme we can be in our decision-making.

GUYS LET ME CLEAR ONE THING UP: This isn't about me saying these people are atheist, I never EVER said that. It's about some atheistic quotes they have made! Please stop misinterpreting it.

My only objective is to share some quotes, not to be conclusive, not to be biased, and definatly not to be against religion.

Despite the fact that I am not a very religious person (deist, in fact), this still gets a 1. Why? Well for one, some of the people you quoted weren't even atheists, at least one of the quotes was misattributed, this site was just another boring slideshow powerpoint presentation ytmnd that I hate (unless they're a parody of such sites), and finally: it simply wasn't interesting or entertaining. So, overall, 1.

lumaga, if it weren't for religion we'd be going to the stars right now. 1000 years or more of scientific darkness because of religious persecution. Think about it. People were burnt at the stake for saying it was a sun centered solar system or the earth wasn't flat or there could be alien life. Nay, religion has not been good at all towards mans endeavor to be what he could and should. My statement is rather simplistic and I can go into many more details but it suffices to get my poin across.

Oh? You realize that a lot of science in the middle ages was done in monastaries, right? Of course you did.

The people demonstrated on here aren't all atheist, but they did make some atheistic quotes.

lumaga, that may be true but there really wasn't anywhere esle for the scientist to go or do at the time. Where better than to hide right under the viper's nose. As long as they abided by the religious laws and beliefs of the day they were safe. Remember Giordano Bruno?

Wrong. Albert Einstein was an Atheist. He did not believe in a personal God. His quotes referencing "God" or "Religion" are taken out of context and/or misunderstood. Do some research before taking things at face value.

Actually this merits a second comment of explanation. A thing is only possibly refuted if it ever, in any sense, existed. SJAIOHFDO's do not exist, but even if only for the purposes of defining what doesnt exist, i just created the word SJAIOHFDO. That is all there is to it. If people never had believed in god, it would never occure to anyone to try to disprove he exists. And if you want to REALLY get into that whole unfalsifiable swamp of "...but you cant DISprove it..." go to wikipedia, read Solipsism

Albert Einstein was nor an atheist or a christian, he followed the ways of a deist.

I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms. Albert Einstein was either a Deist or a Pantheist.
