Take Back the Site (Or don't.)

Fine, DON'T look at the description. It was relevant for about as long as the site was relevant, and not it's not relevant at all anymore. nothing to see here.

Nah. The only thing YTMND really needs is Registration Fees. Why? Because as our population increases, the overflow of stupid spam sites knock quality ytmnds off the Recently Created list, and the bandwidth costs of YTMND get higher & higher. We already saw the addition of advertisements on front page due to max's increased bills.. IMPLEMENT $10.00 ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION FEE. Viewing, voting, and commenting should be free, but creating sites should be for subscribers only.
My only remaining annoyance is the decision to make the font sizes FRIGGIN HUGE. Maybe the user survey revealed that senior citizens with poor vision actually make up a large amount of the YTMND userbase? Lawwwllllll. SRSLY streamline the fonts and spacing of tables plz thx. I reduced font size myself in Firefox and things look much better - but the tables still have huge space gaps. The compactness of the old layout was a real asset.
The bad part about being your own development team is that you have to beta test on the fly. Max has changed things dramatically before and fixed them on the fly. You don't even give him 24 hours... what a joke. I don't know what this site is about, the description gives me nothing, but all I can say is that, honestly, the new format is obviously not final (as nothing ever is on this site) and it has a lot more functionality that isn't fully functional. Calm down, let your pre-teen emotions cool...
and give it a good objective criticism later. Also, realize that your good objective criticism doesn't have to be taken by max, as you have the right to go somewhere else and he has the right to not give a f*ck. After all, most of you are bored 12 year olds with no social skills... where else do you have to go but ytmnd?
It's actually way different from when I first saw it, it's cleaner. So I don't have a problem with it so much anymore. It's simple again, functional, and no web2.0 f*ggotry (as before). Although, if anyone wants to take the message of the site and actually sponsor something, that might make the collective consciousness look less like a gaggle of emo f*cktards.
The new site does look better, but the old site is easier to navigate through. Just learn to live with the new design. It's not like he's going to implement this new design and then downgrade back if people don't like it. This site seems to be growing, so I'm sure a lot of things were done to make it more scaleable.
Learn to accept change. This is how things are. This is the way they're staying. Max changed the site for the better. Yeah, it needs a lot of fixing, and things are continually changing. Max is doing this whole site out of his own good will, and you're spitting on the effort he's spent working on it. He's not going to change the site, no matter how much all of you donate to this site, so I really don't see a point in trying. And I agree with murph- it's a very generous donation, and an
even more generous pledge- matching something up to $100 is crazytalk, and I'll commend you for it, but for your own sake, put your wallet back man. The frontpage isn't finished- max has said it over and over again. Come on vent sometime, he comes on once in a while. The reason he put up that horrendous green paint-made spoof of the frontpage neomatrixclt made was because of people complaining about the frontpage. That's also the reason it says "QQ QQ MORE OMG WHERES TOP 5 I HATE U MAX" below the google ad
Try to just learn with the rest of us that sometimes change might be good. Don't whine or complaint. Just look out ahead and don't live so back in the past. I'm not saying that you're being stupid. I just think you should think about smiling on to the future, eh? Max will fix everything in time, so don't worry so much.
Not gonna say it again, fellas. The only thing that's similar between the front page at the time I created this and the front page now is the color scheme. It's totally different. My donation stands, this ytmnd stands. I just wanted it to stand out as a "yes, max, I'm kvetching, but I'm not costing you money in the process" and an "if you agree, donate" site. If not..fuggoff.
I admit I was shocked at first, but after taking some time to navigate around it's really not that bad. I like that there is more ytmnd links on each page cause you gotta admit there were too many good sites getting buried by all the crap nowadays, and I would guess most people (myself included) spent the majority of time on the main page only. Now if they just implement a way to customize your own layout and select your own color scheme then the site will be badass.
It is the basic presupposition of private property that man produces only in order to own. The purpose of production is to own. It not only has such a useful purpose; it also has a selfish purpose. Man only produces in order to own something for himself. The object of his production is the objectification of his immediate, selfish need. Man - in his wild, barbaric condition - determines his production by the extent of his immediate need whose content is the immediately produced object itself.
In that condition man produces no more than he immediately needs. The limit of his need is the limit of his production. Demand and supply coincide. Production is determined by need. Either no exchange takes place or the exchange is reduced to the exchange of man's labor for the product of his labor, and this exchange is the latent form (the germ) of real exchange.
wow, roq. An intelligent f*cking response, I thank you. Back when I ran a board back in 616, the product was its reward. You're absolutely right. But there came a time when the headaches overwhelmed the sort of.. intrinsixestential (not a word) value of what I was doing. Without going into specifics, let's say 1992 was a very bad year for a lot of people.
I didn't mean anything by that, I'm just quoting random stuff from various philosophy books out of boredom. I don't even necessarily agree with what I'm posting either, SO STOP SENDING ME PM'S FILLED WITH LINKS OF ELEPHANT PORN. Also, that was from selected writings of Karl Marx if anyone is interested.
Actually I was thinking Kant, not Marx, but same clan. Makes sense. If you actually read the Un*b*mb*r's M*nif*st* "Industr1al S0ci3ty and its Future" you see a lot of that sort of thing. That as society continues to be technologically advanced, people lose sight of the basics that they need to survive, and wind up with.. well.. things like South Park.
Blah anyhow, the description field was too short to include that if you're
here, you've got the time and money to throw 5 or 10 bucks at this.
Consider THAT your vote for the old layout. -- WRONG! I'm 16 still looking for employement, even when i DO get a job, i'll be spending hte money on my own website not someone elses. As for time, it's 10:30pm, i'm bored, so i come here to have a laugh not donate money to a random person
So, now your message is "I'm of the last intelligent generation who knows the way things were back in the day, and everybody who doesn't agree with me is a punk kid who thinks he can get everything for free."? Again, GTFO. You don't even know what age people here are, so stop pretending you're of the superior generation. As for donations, people here are regularly sponsoring YTMNDs. It just doesn't happen to be your YTMND.
You originally made this YTMND to whine about the site layout, and when it backfired, you changed it to make it look as if you were only asking for donations because you're so keen to support YTMND. Thanks, but I'll sponsor sites that deserve to be on the front page. So again, please delete this, and stop with the "I know about multinode BBSes and MUDs so I'm a badass" attitude. >ATH OK
"You originally made this YTMND to whine about the site layout, and when it backfired, you changed it to make it look as if you were only asking for donations because you're so keen to support YTMND." ...Domovoi, I thought that was pretty clear in my explanation that yes, that's exactly what I did. Read up.
Previously embarrassing content: O RLY. Lots of people *still* don't like the new layout, even after Max's tweaks. I'm not embarrassed to say something doesn't look right to me. I'm not going to apologize for jumping to conclusions. And it doesn't make me less of a person to say that yes, I jumped to conclusions, the things that irritated me got changed, and now it's better. The previous content was an animated gif of the old site, and this one.
Wow, I guess there a lot of *ssh*l*es on ths site and you angered a BUNCH of them. He just expressed his opinion and donated cash to the site, why are you all so pissed? In the end it's up to max anyway, the only harm that can result from this site is YTMND getting a little bit of dough from tarkaan. Boo-hoo right? I personally don't come here that often nor care about the layout too much, but I think you all just need to calm down.
>>;; As much as the old layout was truly classic and is featured in an obscene amount of sites, I don't really mind the new version of the site, it's easy on the eyes, and I don't seem to notice the ads as much.
As for your rant, I understand what you're saying in it, but it doesn't seem even the slightest bit relevant to why you don't LIKE the new design on the site. I guess I could theorize that you're saying Max is only changed it for the money, but that makes little sense. Also, the sponsered...
