Is this a real program? Can it really do that?
September 3rd, 2006

The program converts to 8-bit alright, but it really doesn't sound like 8 bit music, it just halves the file size.
September 3rd, 2006

This is heartbreaking.

Yeah, it doesn't, because 8-bit != Nintendo. ;) Most nintendo music is similar to a computer midi file, which gives it that distinctive sound. Waveform audio was rarely stored on nintendo carts because of it's size.

You guys are all Fvcking retarded...alls that program does is make the file size smaller.. and the sound quallity sh*ty not videogame like. in order to make somthing sound "8-bit" like somthing out of a video game one would need a seperate program like a midi program with samples of audio and transcribe the song by inputing each note individually..which will take several hours if not days of time depending on how many tracks/layers you want and how good you want it to sound. dont get your hopes up.
September 3rd, 2006

With that said i still think this ytmnd is sick

not to mention, when he clicks "16 > 8" it does change the song, but the sound quality properties at the bottom remain the same (it says 44100khz or whatever and 16 bit... It can't be 16 bit if it's 8 bit so...ya).
September 3rd, 2006
(0)
lol fake.
September 3rd, 2006
(0)
was it really that easy
September 3rd, 2006
(0)
They(Game Developers) wrote the music to a text file and had the CHIP(tune synth chip) decode it in real time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_music That said, this doesn't sound that bad, but not so epic. First comment on YTMND.

I only wish that making 8-bit style music was that easy. This is an ancient version of AudioView that is no longer available, but you can go to http://voyetra.com/ to get the new AudioView.

An 8-bit sample just sounds crappier, but you do not have suddenly a sythesizer sample. But i know that you intended e.g. an 8-bit NES-System with that. so 4 stars
September 4th, 2006
(0)
Sure it is cool, too bad you have to buy the f*cking program in order to use it : \

September 4th, 2006

Really, guys... this doesn't make NES style music. It just halves the file size. If it were that eassy, think of how many more 8-bit YTMNDs would be out there.

Wow, I think I have this program on my old Gateway 2000. That and a Midi thing that I can set to the "chirp" instrument to drive my cat completely insane. Is the program real old?
September 5th, 2006
(0)
Bob042: yes, this is an old program from the old Gateway 2000s. Espie: This program is real, but converting to 8-bit NES Style music is a joke, there is no program like that. "8 bit" on this program refers to the biterate. It halves the biterate, not converting it to NES music, but halving the filesize.

For all the asshats going "ZOMG THAT DUSNT HAPPN WEN U DO DAT 1", you people need to learn what humor is about. In fact, it is NOT about things happening that would happen in any normal circumstance, quite the contrary, that is what makes it funny. Well done, fantum.
