I have every Waterson comic strip. This made me laugh because Garfield really does lick balls and it's too bad that Calvin and Hobbes do not.

5 if you get a weird parallel-universe version of the music instead of the same song from the Garfield site.

well if you put it that way it seems to be just the author is saying the comic strip is dead, not the chars

Well, the cartoonist just wanted to express the basis of many of the stories by explaining Calvin's point of view- everything familiar has disappeared- all previous points of view and/or things and aspects of our lives are gone, and now he creates his scenes. Or it could be that the times are changing, and as nobody can stay 6 forever, (and since the idea of a teen Calvin would turn readers off) it had to be cancelled.

Furthermore, if they were going to die- how would they, and why would they? It's not as if Calvin was depressed or something for the previous two strips-which would lead to possible suicide. No, your theory doesn't hold water.
