^ That was Square before Sakaguchi-san made a Final Fantasy movie that kept with his plan of slowly modernizing Final Fantasy stories as they were made. I say few people saw the movie (and thus Hironobu got the boot) because they just expected a goddamn remake of the 7th (which would've been even worse--I mean, a Final Fantasy VII you can't control AT ALL? It's bad enough you couldn't skip fmvs if you so pleased) and wailed to their friends when they saw a different story.
This game should not be considered a classic rpg. This game is practically the archetype of unoriginal, sellout garbage. I played it when it was newly released, and thought it was a joke. No challenge, no storyline, even old Uematsu pieces were used to try to spice up the soundtrack. I think of this game as the beginning of a long line of crap Squaresoft would put out. (FF7 on PS being another sh*tty game, which was next on their list)
Oh wow, Roq. You're right. I've seen the light. I can't believe a game brought me and millions of other people enjoyment. I guess we were wrong this whole time. And I guess because we enjoy this game, we don't like any other games of great quality either. It's only this game. Holy sh*t, man, Im sorry, I'll delete this site right now.
