I'm going to say this as clearly as I can, and *please* read it literally: The people shown in this YTMND do NOT, under ANY circumstances, represent mainstream Christianity in ANY way, shape, or form. What they're doing is a travesty, and a slap in the face to Christians everywhere. WWJD? Not that, for certain. There are extremists in all walks of life, Christianity included. *sigh*
You're my hero. Fred Phelps and his group of mindless bigots are poor excuses for human beings. With freedom of speech comes the responsibility of using that freedom considerably. Is the right to freedom of speech to be upheld when the names of innocents are being slandered at thier own funerals by hateful, heartless individuals?
According to wiki, the WBC says "it is a sin not to rejoice when other people are victims of tragedy, violence or suffering" and that the "WBC has repeatedly prayed for sin, evil, murder, violence, death, disease, natural disasters, war, terrorism and total destruction for every individual not in their church. In addition, they hope and pray that everybody - save themselves - will burn in hell for all eternity."
Holy sh*t. Oh, and I can guarantee that attacking the site will do nothing. They'll see it as an outworking of their persecution by Satan/the fallen world/f*gs. I just now went to the site. It's extreme enough to make me think that maybe it's a fake. I don't want to believe that someone would give a kid a shirt that says stuff like that.
To the guy who said he didn't believe it was rael it is... They're based in Topeka Kansas and they go around kansas and the surrounding states and protest soldiers funerals. It's basicly a cult and most of the members of it are related to Fred Phelps. BTW Garden City owned them with a law against protesting like 1 hour before and 2 after a funeral GC FTW

One time driving through shawnee county, we stopped to eat and I had the opportunity to meet these psychos. They were protesting something in their town, i'm not even sure what. My friend and I started talking to them and surprisingly they were actually pretty nice, they explained their cause to us very politely and never raised they're voice. I talked with a girl around my age about what there was to do in this town, ect.. she seemed pretty cool. Then an elderly couple walking their dog started a
shouting match from across the street, we jumped into the argument and turned against the church group saying how they're just promoting hate with these protests. They turned batsh*t insane, and suddenly we had like 20 people yelling at us, so we left. They're seriously brainwashed, it's sad really.. they would otherwise be normal people if they didn't believe so zealously in their dumb cause. Also.. according to the wiki article Fred Phelps punched a baby during one his sermons one time, lol.
Man, hate-speech vs. freedom-of-assembly laws... really messy and depressing. You have to take the bad with the good: the Klan, neonazis, and Fred Phelps' genital warts, along with the civil rights marches and WTO protests. Phelps is lucky he lives in a country where a cult leader is free to get famous for preaching hatred of his country's freedoms. But, oh, for a BATF raid about now - Janet Reno could go all Waco on the Westboro church, BOOM, problem solved.

I send these guys hate-mail all the time. Bastards. Did you know their church is pretty much made up of just their family? They're a bunch of inbred idiots. These people are not christians. I'm not a christian, but i'm friends with a pastor, and i watched him give a sermon on how these people are terrible evil people. it was awesome. If YTMND is gonna raid a site, lets raid this one. ALL RELIGIONS are bull sh*t. Why you people still think there's an imaginary friend in the sky who can grant you enjoyment by praying to him I'll never know.
