YTMND: Good & Bad (Warning: LONG!)
After multiple PMs, I meshed the two YTMNDs together. The sound made enough sense, so don't go ranting, please. Now if I could only delete...

Yeah, I know what you mean. Actually, I've been going to YTMND since 2003, but I didn't have tools to make YTMNDs. If you notice the recent sites, much of it is total crap.

I absolutely agree with everything here, except for the Wiki part. The fact that people (old AND ESPECIALLY new) can see fad origins and the like--even without being registered YTMNDers--is crucial, so that they don't just see a site and say "WOW ORIGINALITY! 5!!!".

Overanalytical and unnecessary. I'm not usually one to complain, but this just bothered me. No hard feelings, just don't be pointlessly depressing.

Archiving the old stuff will absolutely do nothing, as will the "stolen content" button. It will be abused as hard as the "nws" button.

I don't agree with that, I don't think ytmnd has that many shocksites that gain any popularity. Any stolen content usually gets quickly downvoted if spotted. As for the wars, well, lets just say don't do them in the name of ytmnd.

i think one problem with ytmnd might actually be the up and comings section... it seems ever since that was up, things have started to go downwards...
(0)
well, the Worth while thing only shows YTMND's that have been in the Up-and-Coming section for a while.

I don't see stolen content as a bad thing provided that no one profits off of the stolen content. This ensures that users can go ahead and rip animated gifs from DVDs, take pictures from generic sources, etc. without paying royalties. Citations should be mandatory though.

you joined only 2 months ago...have no original YTMNDs...half of your sites are "signature" sites and the other half are criticizing YTMND

i agree with the create a site idea...if you're a new user and have 0 sites, you shouldn't be allowed to vote because most cases of that are just ppl making alts to downvote. just look at the 2 main downvoters here (europa and tyler2k)

What we really need is WEIGHTED VOTING based on the average site rating/number of sites/number of votes so that if you make good YTMNDs which are rated high you will have more voting power.

WARNING: sh*tty slideshow
August 7th, 2006

weighted voting is a bad bad idea...people will make quick sh*t to vote, NARVs will such each other off for votes, and then they'll gain epic erections to downvote legitimately creative sites with their power

Oy. Please go out and get some fresh air and stop staring at the computer.

I take it you weren't here in 04 or even 05, where the potty humor and shock sites were ALL THAT THERE WAS. Why do you think picard waas so popular? he was the only site that didn't have gay sex on it.
August 7th, 2006

also, much of what you said is just wrong. we are not becomeing full of potty humor and shock sites- we're coming out of that. the forums are NOT full of peope who make YTMNDs and are NOT FUN. You claim to have been coming here since 03, but you didn't make sites because "you didn't have the tools" WTF? most of the early ones had NO EDITING WHATSOEVER.
August 7th, 2006

Yeah, I guess people have forgotten when YTMND first started, every other site was a shock site or a bad fad site (how many bananaphone sites were made in the beginning?) YTMND can only get better.

Thank GOD I had to see this site to vote it one! Sorry buddy, but you bring nothing creative to the table, just some bitchy text and whiny song.

i gave you a 2 because only 1337 wannabe pukes think the site is going downhill. the voting system is a joke....so what? the actual YTMNDS are getting better and better. as for the wars, you are clearly forgetting the first law of serious business. its nice that you care though, which is why i didnt give you a 1.

Terrible terrible music, no analysis of supposed trends. Support amounts to basically "you're just saying that" and examples of features that stand independent of claims

"Very true, but I can't 5 something if it has typoes. Sorry!" It's typos. There's no 'e'.
