Thank you for exposing the irony of Che merchandise. 5 for the truth.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
Nobody who wears Che Guevera shirts supports what Che Guevera stood for. I don't- but I don't buy any bull sh*t with him on it because I don't know who he is.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
A long time ago there was a thread on the Something Awful forums talking about how lame the Che fad was, and someone created a parody t-shirt with a profile of Alan Greenspan in the style of the famous Che profile with the word "Capitalism" on the back. That ruled.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
I have one of those t-shirts
August 5th, 2006
(0)
Funny cause it's true.

August 5th, 2006
(0)
lol, revolutionaries
August 5th, 2006
(0)
Also, I think part of the reasoning behind the success Che merchandise has nothing to do with who he is or what he stood for - the success is a result of his good looks, the fact that he just looks good on a t-shirt, which makes it all the more lamer/funnier.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
hehehe
August 5th, 2006
(0)
truth ftw
August 5th, 2006
(0)
HAHA, Che is awesome. I've read the motorcycle diaries and his book Guerilla (Can't remember the title.) Those are good books. I always make fun of the losers with those shirts.

Lol! Way to go capitalism! We can even sell something that is so anti us! Take that communism!
August 5th, 2006
(0)
Capitally offended
August 5th, 2006
(0)
anybody know where you can get one of the alan greenspan image/shirts?
August 5th, 2006
(0)
I knew a guy who insisted the downfall of communism would be that it would sell the rope to hang itself. He didn't realize that was it's strength.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
Wow...Che would be pissed. What a bastardization of your ideals.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
5'd because Capitalism is the only system that works. Don't be fooled! Che enjoyed capitalism also http://chefails.ytmnd.com/

This YTMND is made of the Irony and Blasphemy. It's sad how the idiots that like his ideals are defeating his beliefs. Lamentable, but 5'd because I do love me some irony.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
agree, f*ck che
August 5th, 2006
(0)
sad, because we could really use some good revolution right about now. unfortunately for a good revolution you need hunger, and there's no food shortage in america, not by a long shot.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
LOVE the song
August 5th, 2006
(0)
I should just make a ton of those T-shirts via Silk Screen, and wait in the mall for someone to try to buy one, then when they ask for it, I'd just randomly give that person one for free, and rob the T-shirt guy of a sale. And then protest when they try to get kick me out of the mall.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
never knew who this guy was, lets keep it that way.
August 5th, 2006
(0)
Che must be turning in his grave right now.
August 5th, 2006

I'll give you a 3 for irony, but no; he doesn't love capitalism, the people who own his copyrighted image do.

August 5th, 2006

August 5th, 2006

"Communism making a profit off capitalism" It can also be said capitalism making a profit off communism. When has capitalism not profited off of communism? Or any sort of other "evil" government? Capitalism has prfited off of communist imagery and "edge" for a long time, while at the same time saying "yeah, but seriously, they're stupid". Capitalism wins this fight, and it saddens me that people still living in their parents home can sit there and say "dumb communists, capitalism is better...
August 5th, 2006

Babies Love Che!
August 5th, 2006
(0)
all just because their parents support a capitalist state (or not, you never know, it isn't like people walk around proudly proclaiming they're a capitalist). The dipsh*ts that buy into che imagery are just bandwagoner capitalist. A true commie doesn't support the the soiled imagery associated with communism because of bad choices made by poor countries. Trust me, when mankind decides to drop the capitalist belief that greed is human nature, we will be closer to a start trek future: a communist future.

i went to an asian market after making this YTMND, and I bought Che socks for $2
August 5th, 2006
(0)
I actually played Che Guevara in a short film, which was all about the photo shoot in which that picture was taken. Well anyway, the last lines in the film were "I hope you're happy with the shoot, sir." "Well it better turn out well, because my face is going to be on my t-shirts, and novelty pens, and mugs, home pregnancy tests, and all the other piddle and crap..." It was a student film, but it was made with the idea that Che wasn't really a communist. Basically, I'm glad you picked up on the same idea!
August 5th, 2006
(0)
They can revolutionize my *ss for all I care. Lol, commu-murderers
August 6th, 2006
(0)
".. A true commie doesn't support the the soiled imagery associated with communism because of bad choices made by poor countries. Trust me, when mankind decides to drop the capitalist belief that greed is human nature, we will be closer to a start trek future: a communist future .." I agree.. communism was founded on a noble goal I suspect a variation of it will eventually prove itself on a large scale. It's proven itself a billion times over for tribal peoples.
August 6th, 2006
(0)
Che Guevera certainly didn't live during a time when he could see what modern communists would do. Anywho he's now a symbol of revolution period. NOT communism period.
(0)
Good song and good point, all this merchandise bullsh*t is taking away from what Che was all about.
August 6th, 2006
(0)
The irony is impeccable. Good song choice too. Smartness. *Wearing Che Shirt*
August 6th, 2006
(0)
Yeah f*cking seriously. 5 and Fav because I want to show this to my *sshole friends who wear Che Guevara apparel.

rage win
August 6th, 2006
(0)
id say rage against the machine helped in the sales of those shirts and crap. i used to be a HUGE rage against the machine fan (still am, but not as big now) back in 6th grade. i saw ratm with a che flag and shirt or something like that. i wanted the shirt because i thought it looked cool, but to be honest at the time i had no clue who he even was. perfect music for this ytmnd by the way.
August 6th, 2006
(0)
Smoothmedia hits it on the nail again, and with the same sleek style. 5'ed. Coming from a European socialist who loves Che's work, bra-f*cking-vo.
(0)
Ah, the corporate counter-culture, making their millions off a murdering *ss with a pretty face. Neither communism nor capitalism wins. It's all vacant.

"Ah, the corporate counter-culture, making their millions off a murdering *ss with a pretty face. Neither communism nor capitalism wins. It's all vacant." umm, no, captitalism wins you dumb sh*t...did you not see the ytmnd?
(0)
Oh I saw it, Kazaam, but I can't say I let ytmnd's dictate opinion. That a corporation is shilling the image of a "revolutionary" murderer to idiot teenagers says nothing of the success of capitalism, except ostensibly. If anything this sort of nonsense shows us that, at the end of the day, stupidity wins.
August 6th, 2006
(0)
I wonder how many people who buy that crap know he was a terrorist.
August 6th, 2006

August 6th, 2006
(0)
I hope Che is turning over in hell (where all communists go btw) over the fact that the American capitalists are making lots of money off of his bullsh*t non-existant cause. ANYWAYS +6 for a good point, and -1 for no NEDM
August 6th, 2006
(0)

August 6th, 2006

"I died so that a fat, spoiled, white college kid could wear a t-shirt with my face on it for $30." - Che Gueverra
August 6th, 2006
(0)
Always made me laugh
August 6th, 2006
(0)
Wow, I doubt Che died to be on wall clocks and sh*t like that.
August 6th, 2006
(0)
I don't like the whole thing about the industries getting so much money out of a anti-capitalist popular icon.. But then again, there is no alternatives to the capitalist system, so how would people get these products in another way?
August 6th, 2006
(0)
Yeah, I think this YTMND has a terminal lack of Alanis Morisette. That would seal the deal.
August 6th, 2006
(0)
I've been thinking the same thing for years, but I never thought to make a YTMND of it. Good job.
August 6th, 2006

August 6th, 2006

Like someone said this isnt communism making profit of capitalism. Its capitalism making profit of communism. I dont see this ytmnd as bashing Che or what he did in any way. Moreso the way capitalism works and how it sells anything. (Also ofc the people who buy these things and actualy think they support Che that way ;) )

"Just realized that that famous picture looks casually like Maddox." Maddox did that on purpose. . . And communism doesn't work. It would work in some type of utopia, but we don't live in one of those, so it's a fairy tale ideal

How many people were killed at La Cabaña? Pedro Corzo offers a figure of some two hundred, similar to that given by Armando Lago, a retired economics professor who has compiled a list of 179 names as part of an eight-year study on executions in Cuba.

5'd for truth. I hate seeing that icon now. Proves how morons co-opt symbols which were formerly deviant. If you want to get the message across with a T-shirt, switch to something more openly spiteful and blasphemous.

Che was a brilliant man and a superior revolutionist. He was a true example of communism. This YTMND is true, but it's kind of sad because it gives off a negative sense of Che. He should be respected by people fighting the oppressive government and helping the oppressed. REVOLUTION.

"sad, because we could really use some good revolution right about now. unfortunately for a good revolution you need hunger, and there's no food shortage in america, not by a long shot." Turambar, you are right about the US needing a revolution.
