Created on: August 3rd, 2006

this is a great idea but the execution could be better. for one thing the image quality is horrible. also i think it would have been better if he was just whispering in the ears of the girls, and if the framerate was slowed down significantly. just my two cents. tweak it a bit and you have a winner.
I should downvote you for saying 'worst movie about chocolate factory' though - the new one is no truer to Roard Dahl's book, the music that is there sucks, and Johnn y Depp is a horrible Wonka. in general it completely lacks the subversive wonder of the original (the original is in my top 5 of all time)
well, I dunno, the book has been my favorite book since like 2nd grade. And no matter how cool the art is in both movies. And the music they actually stayed true to in the second. The one thing I could NOT STAND is the freaking golden goose and egg part. It's so not Dahl and like, I dunno ruins the whole movie for me. But the new one did have its low points.
I dont care if Dahl hated the first one. Alan Moore hates V for Vendetta, that doesnt automatically mean it sucks. I just think Tim Burton really missed the point (and that he hasnt made a good movie since Ed Wood). but anyways.... i just think its dumb to insult the movie you're making a YTMND of since so many of its fans are gonna upvote it. yer just costing yourself votes.
I didn't say that either movie was better - I just said I believe they remade it because he didn't like the first one so much. Both movies stay true to the book in bits and pieces, but neither one really hits it on the mark. And I can't remember if Big Fish came out before or after Ed Wood.. but that's definitely one of his better flicks. But I agree - insulting the movie won't get good votes prolly, lol.
I think he keeps picking Depp because he has a huge acting range. While he's very recognizeable, he definitely has pretty amazing talent. Then you have Orlando Bloom (the heartthrob with Depp since Pirates), with all the acting talent and range of a harp seal. Besides, is Manson a particularly good actor?
i used to be a big Burton fan. heres the last 10 years - Mars Attacks: enjoy it, own it - but its a bad film. Sleepy Hollow: could be worse, but not good - Planet of the Apes: sh*t, Big Fish: Forrest Gump II, the tall tales not nearly tall enough, i thought the whole thing was a sentimental mess, Corpse Bride: sh*tty songs, boring/bad story, nice animation.
! Big Fish was wonderful! It was one of those movies that had me use the word "delightful" in it, which is pretty rare. I liked the sentimental - but maybe that's a female thing. :P Sleepy Hollow I enjoyed a lot, Planet of the Apes was HORRIBLE, and Corpse Bride - while gorgeous - was quite a letdown. I was expecting more of the magic that was in Nightmare Before Christmas, and it just never came.
Since I went to art school this summer I just discovered Tim BUrton and watched Nightmare for the first time. I have the CD in FLAC now and like watch the movie every few days. I think like it's just such a good juxtapositional story it's so sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. Elfman's music and voice is so kickass too.
