The content in YTMNDs are not copyrighted, just the logo and trademark. Creative commons makes it so if ebaums wishes to use your work he must give you credit.

What other people have already commented but I'll reiterate cuz hey, whatever: ALL works are automatically copyrighted upon creation. Ebaums gets away with it because the courts don't care.

In reply to some of the comments/questions: 1. I gave credit for the song to The Who 2. This YTMND does not have a CC license applied to it as CC belongs to CC and the song belongs to The Who 3. I am not affiliated with CC so this is not an advertisement

so basically if you create the image from scratch AND the audio from scratch this can apply...I'm not voting because this doesn't apply to almost everyone, but for the truly original, high rated sites this might help...

you see that's the problem at eBaums...they have the entry form where anybody can claim they made the media even if they didn't...a registry with the CC would clear everything up quickly

Hey guys. I actually have a creative commons on my artwork and writing, and so far it's working for me. If I show a host my license, then the person who did not credit me (the atribution) will have a much greater chance of their account being removed. Please note that creative commons is NOT a copyright. It is a license. It's basically a "This is what you can do with my crap. Disobey and I am allowed to get pissy and/or sue." If you have any other questions, just ask me.

I agree, but I am saying *I* know the difference. Which is why I am saying "ask me questions". I am not a lawyer, but I have read a lot into copyright and licenses to make sure my own work isn't f*cked with and stolen.

Actually, just to note, anything you create is by international convention considered to have a common law copyright. The general difficulty in such a thing is proving the date in which the item was created, which is usually most easily done by sending yourself a sealed envolope so you have the postmark as proof in case you bring it to court. Creative Commons merely seeks to more accurately spell out the terms in a more concrete fashion. More intimidating to a would be theif.

CC is not copyright, so no I am not confused how copyright works. CC means they CAN use it but they have to credit to you for creating it. Things are not automatically copyrighted in legal terms as soon as you make it. Copyright is where you register that the item actually belongs to you therefore people need your permission to reuse it or else they are punishable by law. Hope that clears up the confusion of what CC is and what copyright is for you CitrusFreak1, idownvotethieves, and others.

Copyright is acquired automatically. Read up on the Berne Convention. Getting a creative commons license will not make this any more or less enforcable, so this YTMND is basically worthless. 1

This won't make a difference. Ebaumsworld lies about whether or not someone gave them permission to use something, or failing that they just say "oh, some anonymous person gave it to us without crediting anyone." Unless you have the money, patience, and inclination to sue ebaumsworld over it, it doesn't matter how much copyright protection you put on your stuff, he'll steal it if he wants to.

Creative Commons will actually make it less enforcible than a good old fashioned copyright.

"They are creating a world where you have to copyright your sh*t or else they can take it free of charge" Bullsh*t. A peice of work is copyrighted the moment of its insception. You don't fill out f*ggy forms or brand the peice with a meticulously designed logo for it to be copyright.
