What does it even do? Sry I am not so tech-savvy. Is it spyware? Other than that, I run Windows, so what does it matter? If you respond I will upvote.

WGA = Windows Genuine Advantage. This is a tool Microsoft uses to check to see if you have a pirated version of Windows XP. If your Windows is pirated (Meaning, checking your product key to see if it is valid) then a popup will appear most of the time saying "Your Windows is not Genuine." And will bug the crap out of you.

False! Though you tell it not to notify you about that update again it WILL re-add it to the list of garbage to dl! Always check the list of updates every time! It's a trap!

False ColdStone! That was only the second time it has come up. Also, I always do a custom install. So bring it on M$...
