Seems like my image is a bit screwed up. Don't worry, i'll fix this problem so you can all read it correctly!

y = xx i am assuming mean y = x^2 dy/dx = 2x

y' = 2x

Sorry about that, y'=2x.

I'm pretty sure this isn't actually a math question and rather one of Chromosome Biology. In which case the answer is right here: http://anatomylesson.ytmnd.com/
July 18th, 2006

This is because y=x*x=x^2. From here, y'=2x^(2-1)=2x.
July 18th, 2006

y=(2x/cos*x^2)

and also, if thats the case y ≠ xx

Even Worf finds it amusing, and he's Worf! (see:worflearns.ytmnd) Also, it doesn't make the answer any less true of differentiating between XX and XY displayed development traits.

i took a wild guess...i haven't had a math class in a couple years...but xx = x^2 so thats how I came to my answer...its probably wrong though

dy/dxx=1, xx is a varible name. silly geese
July 18th, 2006

Freeland, if (y=xx) is the same as (y=x^2) then the derivative of y=xx is (dy/dx)= 2x First semester of first year calculus
(0)
xx=xx, not x^2 or whatever else. If he wanted it to be 2x or x^2 he would have written it that way. I also enjoy the fact that you have one vote (Against Kindergarden cop) and that Discipline is a key word

Wait, y'=x, as in the constant. Like if y=ax, y'=a, but in this case it's just x. Can I get the prize now? ;-)
(0)
^^That answer doesn't work on account that if one X is a constant, then so is the other. If thats the case then you differentiate to y'=0. But then, x ain't no constant I've ever heard of. And it's pretty clear that 'xx' is a varible on its own, like explained above.

x is a variable
July 18th, 2006
(0)
YES my students you are learning YOU ARE LEARNING!
(0)
yes x is a variable, but the term (xx) is also a single variable. Granted this really teachs nothing because Freeland is either looking for a specific answer, or just baiting people to post on his page. His lack of direction so far seems to suggest the ladder, but if he's just doing it to make a ytmnd about the comments later, or try and get people to discuss the problem to "educate" us is anyones guess.
(0)
yeaaaah, I don't think he's coming back.

the awnser is 0. the vector of ordinates for the input data=the vector of values at which to differentiate. for some J, XX(J) does not lie inside the interval[ X(1), X(N) ]

Solving the polynomial gives n values of z. Plugging those values gives a basis for the solution; any linear combination of these basis functions will satisfy the differential equation. This equation F(z) = 0, is the "characteristic" equation considered later by Monge and Cauchy.

The method of undetermined coefficients (MoUC), is useful in finding solution for yp. Given the ODE P(D)y = f(x), find another differential operator A(D) such that A(D)f(x) = 0. This operator is called the annihilator, and thus the method of undetermined coefficients is also known as the annihilator method. Applying A(D) to both sides of the ODE gives an homogeneous ODE for which we find a solution basis as before. Then the original nonhomogeneous ODE is used to construct a system of equations restricting

As explained above, the general solution to a non-homogeneous, linear differential equation y''(x) + p(x)y'(x) + q(x)y(x) = g(x) can be expressed as the sum of the general solution yh(x) to the corresponding homogenous, linear differential equation y''(x) + p(x)y'(x) + q(x)y(x) = 0 and any one solution yp(x) to y''(x) + p(x)y'(x) + q(x)y(x) = g(x).

Mr. Freeland has been teaching the same lesson for 10 days now. Which makes me question the purpose of this educational system.

Maybe it's something like Blues Clues, you know, the same lesson day after day until they get it. Is it like Blues Clues Mr F?

uhhh ok let's go through all crazy possibilites of what "Differentiate y = xx" could mean... -if y is a function of x and you want its derivative --and if xx means the variable denoted by x times itself then dy/dx=2x --and if xx means the variable denoted by xx, which would be retarded, then dy/dx=1 -if, which i suspect because you put the word differentiate inside the quotes in the description, it is part of the equation, in other words find y(x) given y'(x)=xx ...cont...
July 28th, 2006
(0)
...cont... --and if xx means x squared then y(x)= x*x*x + c where x is an arbitrary constant --and if xx means the variable "xx" then y(x)= xx*xx/2 + c i think my favorite answer is x*x*x + c. in other words, porn. PORN IS THE ANSWER!!!
